welcome
Welcome to Sligo today. Have you ever noticed that there are some words that are easier to explain than to define? For many, the word paradox is one of them. February 17, Saturday Simply put, a paradox is a seemingly absurd or selfYoung Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. contradictory statement that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or even true. February 18, Sunday For example, take the statement less is more. At first Exercise Class, Office Chapel, 9:00 a.m. glance this statement appears to be an apparent contradiction of terms. After all, how in the world can less be more? Actually it February 19, Monday, President’s Day Holiday depends on the subject matter. Sometimes less information given on a topic can actually prove to be more beneficial in the long run, Church Office will be closed especially if time is of the essence. The world we live in is replete with Recovery Ministry Meeting is canceled paradoxes, and so is the Word of God. So much so that someone February 21, Wednesday once said that, “Without paradoxes, there is no Christianity.” Take for instance what Jesus shared in John 17. While praying to his Father Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. on the eve of his crucifixion, he says that we are to be in the world but Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. not of it. What did Jesus mean by this and how does he expect us to apply it to our lives? - Charles A. Tapp
