GLOW Worship Service for Young Adults: Come join us on January 14 for the young adult worship service (ages 18-35). GLOW Worship starts at 11:30 a.m. in the Youth Room! This is our first worship service on the new year and we are excited to have you start the new year with us. This worship service will be held once a month on the second Sabbath of the month. Youth Parent Meeting (Parents with children aged 14 to 17): The Sligo Youth Department wants to invite you to a Youth Parent Meeting next Sabbath, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Youth Room. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for the parents of youth to meet the SYD leaders who will be helping teach your youth this year, as well as join us in praying for the upcoming year. The meeting will also include details of our youth calendar for the coming year, but we would especially want to hear from parents and how we as a Youth Department can communicate with you best.

welcome Welcome to Sligo today. There is probably no theme more popular in our world today, which dominates just about all aspects of our culture, than that of love. Think about it for a moment. Many of the most popular songs that have been written in any genre have for the most part, all centered around the theme of love. This of course is not limited to music. Many of the films that have been produced as well as books that have been written, have love as their primary theme. Love throughout the ages has always been, and will probably always be, an extremely popular theme. As it has been said in a very popular song, “What the world needs now is love sweet love. It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of.” Even within the confines of Scripture the theme of love seems to take center stage. And probably the most well known example is in 1 Corinthians 13. Here the Apostle Paul refers to love as, “the greatest of these.” But, is Paul right? Is love really the greatest thing? And is love really the message of 1 Corinthians 13? - Charles A. Tapp

Helen Joan West has been a member of Sligo since 1955, Of Norwegian heritage, she was born in the Bronx and grew up in Brooklyn. She studied nursing at Washington Missionary College, and then practiced obstetrics at WAH and worked in doctors’ offices.
