Welcome to Sligo Church. This week our church has been filled with the sounds of singing, children’s voices and screams of fun. It’s our annual Sligo Vacation Bible School (VBS). Children, ages 1-12, have been learning how they can conquer challenges with God’s mighty power through lessons taught using the “Everest” theme. Over 100 volunteers and in excess of 220 children have sensed God’s presence throughout the week. It is a wonderful and exciting time for our church because it is filled with children who get to experience Jesus in their lives. Thanks to all who donated to VBS and helped to ensure that this year’s event has been a blessing to children of our church and the community. I trust that today’s worship experience will be a blessing to you. - Pr. Gerry Lopez

Summary of our Beliefs • The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40).

OUR LIFE TOGETHER
sabbath devotional
“Fear is the glue that keeps you stuck. Faith is the solvent that sets you free.” – Shannon L. Alder
We are saddened to announce the passing of William Muller Isaac on July 14. He was a Sligo member for 50 years. The viewing and funeral will be held at Spencerville SDA Church (16325 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20905) on Sunday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. A repast will follow the committal at Burnt Mills SDA Church (10915 Lockwood Drive, Silver Spring, MD 20901). Today’s Sanctuary flowers are provided by the board of Time for Equality in Adventist Ministry (TEAM) in honor of the life and contributions of the late Dr. Patricia Habada. A published author, educator, administrator, and long-time mentor of women, she helped to found TEAM, which has provided more than $500,000 in scholarships for women worldwide studying theology and religion. Dr. Habada was lead editor for many of the denomination’s reading and language arts publications at the GC Department of Education and one of the pioneers of the GraceLink children’s Sabbath School curriculum. Sligo AIM Members will meet tomorrow, July 19, at 10:00 a.m. in the Senior Pastor’s Office. We will discuss the upcoming Sligo AIM Walk (September 2015) and AIM campaigns. Please contact Terri Jo Hayes (thayes7007@aol.com) if you have questions.
