ANNOUNCEMENTS (continued)

welcome

Welcome to Sligo. Today we focus on some important lessons that the Book of Esther has to teach us. Esther is the only book in the Bible that does not mention the March 4, Saturday name of God. God seems to be absent, but on close examination, it is clear that God is not far away. He is Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. lurking in the shadows and at the edges, observing, Children’s Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 1:00 p.m. prompting and empowering, perhaps even chuckling to Himself at times as He sees the actions of the principal players. No March 5, Sunday doubt His heart is also broken as He observes spurned opportunities 55+ Brunch & Potluck, Fellowship Hall A, 10:00 a.m. to exercise grace, show compassion and demonstrate the nature of March 6, Monday His kingdom. Today’s sermon is titled, “Reluctant Heroine, Determined Villain.” You may be surprised to know that the villain in this case is not Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. the notorious Haman. In fact, the heroine and the Villain are the same person. I sincerely pray that God will open our eyes and hearts to the March 8, Wednesday lessons He wants to teach us today from the Book of Esther. Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. - Don McFarlane (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m.

Did you know that… The chapel in Sligo Church’s basement was remodeled in 1967 and renamed the Memorial Chapel, the name which was selected “as an appropriate way to remember the spirit and contribution of our early Seventh-day Adventist pioneers.” Sligo Church member, Robert F. Schwindt, designed the Memorial Chapel. The first wedding to take place in the Memorial Chapel was that of Barbara Mauer and George Bestpitch on March 26, 1967. Barbara served for many years as Sligo Church’s secretary and George eventually became the pastor for visitation. The Memorial Chapel was dedicated on January 13, 1968.

“It will be very interesting one day to follow the pattern of our life as it is spread out like a beautiful tapestry. As long as we live here we see only the reverse side of the weaving, and very often the pattern, with its threads running wildly, doesn’t seem to make sense. Some day, however, we shall understand. In looking back over the years we can discover how a red thread goes through the pattern of our life: the Will of God.” - Maria Augusta von Trapp
