welcome
Welcome to Sligo today. If I had to make a list of the top ten films that I believe did more to help change the way we as Americans viewed one another and helped March 5, Saturday to bring about a better sense of understanding and acceptance, the ground-breaking film Guess Who’s Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. Coming to Dinner would have to be at the top of that Sligo Blood Drive, WAU Parking Lot, 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. list. In my opinion, this film was ground-breaking for Sligo Underground, Youth Room, 11:00 a.m. many reasons, but not in the least because it dealt with one of the Children’s Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 1:30 p.m. cancers that has plagued and continues to plague our country and that is race. When it debuted in 1967, there were still 17 states where March 6, Sunday it was illegal for an interracial couple to marry, so for this film to tackle such a controversial issue was a sheer act of courage. The film is Pathfinder Meeting, Office Chapel, 9:30 a.m. about a newly engaged couple who have decided to spring the news VBS FunShop, Fellowship Halls A & B, 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. to her parents over dinner. But there’s only one problem, he’s black and she is white. The plot thickens as we watch how both families March 7, Monday attempt to deal with this challenging development and at the same Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. time remain cordial as they enjoy dinner together as a family. Sound familiar? March 9, Wednesday - Charles A. Tapp Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) Summary of our Beliefs Sligo Adult Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. • The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and

sabbath devotional
“Some Christians try to go to
heaven alone, in solitude. But believers are not compared to bears or lions or other animals that wander alone. Those who belong to Christ are sheep in this respect, that they love to get together. Sheep go in flocks, and so do God’s people.” - Charles Spurgeon
