Have you ever heard someone say, “That was the straw that broke the camel’s back?” This idiom is from an Arabic proverb about a camel that is so weighed down beyond its capacity to move or stand that the smallest addition, even a single straw could potentially “break” the camel’s back. This is also where we get the expression, “The last straw.” Whenever either one of these phrases is used, it’s usually in the context where someone feels that they have reached their breaking point. Today, in my message titled, “The Tipping Point” we seek to answer the age-old question, “Does God have a breaking point when it comes to man’s disobedience?” Is there a “straw” that can potentially break God’s back?

profile of giving
• The Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). • Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God and our personal Savior from sin by grace through faith. (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 2:8). • Having been saved, followers of Jesus live in obedience to Him by observing the Ten Commandments. (Exodus 20: 1-17; John 14:15). • The Sabbath – the seventh day of the week- established by God at creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry, is to be observed by the followers of Jesus. (Exodus 20:8-11; 1 Peter 2:21). • Jesus is coming back to earth personally and visibly to raise the righteous dead and give His faithful children of all ages immortality in an earth made new. (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 22:12; 21:1-3). • Our love for God is demonstrated primarily by our love for our fellowmen. (1 John 4:20; Matthew 25:34-40)

“God has dealt patiently with sinful mankind. Yet, we must recognize that God’s longsuffering with sinners eventually ends.” “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts...” Hebrews 3:15 (NIV)
Philippines Disaster - An estimated 9.5 million people have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan. A total of 618,175 people are currently displaced with 435,701 inside 1,458 evacuation centers and 182,474 are outside the centers. At least 2,500 people have died and the number is expected to increase as more affected areas become accessible. ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) is on the ground assisting with the relief efforts. Those who wish to contribute to those efforts are invited to make their contribution via our giving envelope and indicating clearly that it is for the Philippines. Alternatively, you can make your contribution directly to ADRA at ADRA.org or by calling 1.800.424.2372. FESTIVAL OF PRAISE THANK OFFERING – Next Sabbath the Sligo family will celebrate Thanksgiving with a service of praise and gratitude. We expect to receive hundreds of food parcels for those in our community who may not have much at this special time of year. Our members are to be commended for this annual act of generosity. While we consider the needs of the community, let us remember the needs of Sligo Church and its various ministries. Each one is invited to give a special “Thank Offering” next Sabbath in addition to his or her regular church offering. This will prove to be a blessing to our children, youth, those who need assistance and to our church program in general.
