welcome

Welcome to Sligo. As I have said many times in the past, the fact that Sligo Church is part of a larger campus that is Washington Adventist University is a blessing in many ways. September 23, Saturday One in particular is that as pastors we have an opportunity Young Adults GLOW, Memorial Chapel, 9:30 a.m. from time to time to serve as adjunct instructors in the Department of Religion. This is just one of the many ways in which we can “engage the minds and help transform September 25, Monday the lives” of our students. The course that I am currently teaching is Jesus Regeneration Ministries, Office Conference Room, 7:30 p.m. and the Gospels, where the focus is on the life and teachings of Jesus as portrayed throughout the four Gospels. One of the highlights of this class is September 27, Wednesday when we lecture on the miracles Jesus performed in the lives of those who Prayer Gathering, Sanctuary, 7:00 p.m. sought his “touch.” What stands out as one of the most interesting miracles (or by phone: 949.229.4400 Pin:4997774#, 7:35 p.m.) of Jesus’ brief but powerful ministry is his very first. It happened while Jesus Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal, Choir Room, 8:00 p.m. was attending a wedding feast and turned water into wine. Although he did it out of necessity, could there have been more to this miracle than meets the eye? And if so, what on earth could it possibly be?

With all that has recently taken place in our world from the increase in natural disasters to man’s continual inhumanity to man, is there any hope to be found in God’s word? Pastor Tapp seeks to answer this question in his message, “A Song for the Suffering.” Music will be provided by the Sligo Sanctuary Choir.

sabbath devotional

“The day of the Lord’s Supper is an occasion of joy for the Christian community. Reconciled in their hearts with God and the brethren, the congregation receives the gift of the body and blood of Jesus Christ, and, receiving that, it receives forgiveness, new life, and salvation. ”

- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
