We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and our only rule of faith and practice. As Scripture teaches, we believe God became man in the person of Jesus Christ, saving us from sin by grace through faith. We believe the seventh-day Sabbath was established by God at Creation and honored by Jesus in His earthly ministry as a gift of rest and rejuvenation for all. We celebrate the church as the diverse “new community” forged through the death and resurrection of Jesus, in which all are called, all are gifted, and all are valued. We anticipate Jesus’ personal and visible return to earth to raise the righteous dead, make the earth new, and dwell with His faithful children throughout eternity . We live out our love for Jesus by growing in His likeness and by serving our fellowmen.

Welcome to Sligo today. If someone were to stop you in the neighborhood in which you live because they had heard that you were a Christian, and then began to ask you to explain to them what the Lord’s supper was all about, what would you tell them? Would you be able to share with them the essence and the historical significance behind the symbols of the bread and the wine and what they mean for Christians today or would you be at a loss for words? Sadly, there is many a believer who surprisingly and unfortunately would fall into the category of the latter. And the question that begs to be asked is simply, why is this the case? Think about it for a moment. The Lord’s Supper is not simply an ancient tradition that we as Christians follow as a way to honor the memory of Jesus’ death on the cross, it represents the very reason why we even exist as Christians. Today, as we prepare to come to the Lord’s table, let us be careful not to do so out of habit, but let us come out of necessity, as would a hungry beggar in need of bread. - Charles A. Tapp

sabbath devotional

“There is in man a disposition to esteem himself more highly than his brother, to work for self, to seek the highest place; and often this results in evil surmisings and bitterness of spirit. The ordinance preceding the Lord’s Supper is to clear away these misunderstandings, to bring man out of his selfishness, down from his stilts of selfexaltation, to the humility of heart that will lead him to serve his brother.” - Ellen G. White, The Desire of Ages, p. 650
