The design project include evaluating and comprehending a character, developing an idea, and expressing it via design. Andare, a court jester from medieval Sri Lanka, is the assigned character. According to legend, Andare was a cunning court jester who flourished during the reigns of Kandyan kings Kirthi Sri Rajasinghe and Rajadhi Rajasignhe in the 18th century He is thought to have been born in the southern Sri Lankan town of Udamala. Andare is supposed to have delighted both royals and commoners with his amusing actions and scathing remarks. Despite being a simple comic, Andare's stories reveal a great intelligence that helped him manipulate events in his favor He was also a great archer, a prolific poet, and a shrewd figure who could adjust to any circumstance This project's design is built on the tale of how Andare shot the frog, which showcases several of his abilities and attributes. The design is created as a collage in the shape of a huge leaf to hint to the character's intricacy and the fact that he is a mash-up of numerous qualities. The key characters in the narrative, particularly the frog, Andare himself, and the King, are shown concealed within the leaf to signify that, while he appears to be a court jester at first glance, he has many hidden powers and is a lot more enigmatic figure. Andare is shown as a fox here to reflect his cleverness and cunning. The wall plaque incorporates a variety of materials to depict emotions and qualities. The leaf collage is created with a shiny wax covered sheet to demonstrate how he is a relatively slick figure who can easily escape difficult situations Sponge is utilized to demonstrate Andare's ability to swiftly absorb information from his environment, complementing his extraordinary analytical skills. Lace is used to represent royalty since he was a court jester during the Kandyan period Metal wire is utilized to construct the leaf's midrib, representing his firm conviction in himself and his commitment to himself
The capacity of a person to operate in this world is determined by the size and dimensions of the human body in relation to its surroundings. As a result, while building the built environment or things for human use, it is critical to consider the dimensions of the human body or body parts in question. Planning and designing spaces and objects that are easily accessible and manipulated by humans contributes to a healthy and fulfilling life experience, and architects, as designers and manipulators of space, must have a good understanding of how a space functions in comparison to the human body and its movements. And we had to think about who we are and what we needed in order to redesign our own bedrooms. The study of the human body's measurements, proportions, and motions. It is also concerned with factors like reach and visual range. The human body's dimensions and motions in relation to the surrounding environment Ergonomics is crucial in developing rooms and things that the user can use effectively and securely. Own bedroom was redesigned according to the plans.
Camping is a recreational outdoor activity that entails spending the night away from home in a shelter. This leisure sport is thought to have originated in the 1880s on the Thames River in the United Kingdom. Later, it spread to many regions, and modern camping may be mixed with hiking as in back-packing, as well as other outdoor activities such as canoeing, climbing, fishing, and hunting. A minimum of one night spent outdoors is necessary to be considered "camping," and this includes preparing meals for an overnight stay at the camping site. This project is about developing a portable camping kitchen that will allow two camping partners to make a meal.
Creative individuals have distinct personalities and methods of doing things that make them feel at ease, and they place a great importance on their private workplace. An artist is a creative person who spends time expressing themselves via various media. So frequently,it is a solitary space for people to contemplate, find shelter, and carry out their creative work, which might include unique and experimental initiatives. It must not only have the proper ambiance, but it must also be functional enough to carry out the Artist’s work while also meeting fundamental human demands for space. The design project involves creating a tiny free-standing building that serves as a studio and bedsitter for a creative artist at a specific location. The studio should primarily respond to both the artist's personality and the creative medium. We are tasked with picking one artist, interviewing them, analyzing their personalities and art forms, and designing a studio to complement and give the greatest possible space and atmosphere for them to develop their art form. To install a 50sqm studio building, a suitable site of at least 10m by 15m must be chosen. The design should include a studio area that representsthe artist's artistic style, basic accommodation with a sleeping/resting space, a small pantry, and abathroom to offer the artist with the required facilities while staying over and working for several days at a time.
This project is about constructing a customised house that may be used as a home for a certain family at a specific location. The customer for this project was the studio teacher for the 'Artist studio,' and the designated site was an empty plot of land beside Thalangama Lake, some 2 kilometers from Malabe's main road. The house’s maximum size should not exceed 300 sqm, and it should have no more than three bedrooms. During the conceptual phase, it was necessary to interview the client and learn the client's background, attitudes, and requirements, as well as to visit the assigned site to understand the site circumstances. The customer for this project was architect Dimantha Weliange, who was chosen as the mentor. We were expected to build a personalized dwelling that was also appropriate with his family members' hobbies. First, we arrived at the site and studied its background, terrain, vegetation, and other noteworthy elements. The initial stage was to meet with the client and acquire information about their preferences, needs, daily routine, and family activities. First, I created a good idea for the project with the major places and produced the project in accordance with the client’s specifications. Keep a sketch notebook of design ideas and development to illustrate progress.Analyzing the Client’s needs and designing the best house for him and his family, not only for his daily activities. Climatic Changes, Common Relations, and Environmental Needs are the primary outcomes that I gathered from this design project.
