PROJECT SUMMARY
The project is intended to generate architectural solutions to address the climate, ecology, and sustainability related issues. In this project, we need to link the natural environment with the built environment. This is an environmentally sensitive project. Therefore, it has to focus on how to create a built environment that blends in with the natural environment without any harm. The total floor area of the project should be around 500 Sq.m (5000 Sq.t). Site extent is given as 1000 Sq.m (10000 Sq.f)This project is a Visitor's information centre & museum for the Kanneliya forest reserve, SriLanka. As the reception and experience centre at the entrance of the forest reserve, I hope to awaken the Visitors’ keen perception of nature before they enter to the forest. This museum will consist of;
1) Museum of Forest Service History This is a collection of artefacts, documents, and memorabilia, untold stories relating to the history and culture of the Forest Service. Awareness of conservation methodologies and dedication towards how to protect nature. Ultimately it inspires the younger generation to safeguard nature, wildlife conservation & awareness. Objective Awareness of conservation methodologies and dedication towards how to protect the nature. Ultimately to inspire younger generation to safeguard the nature. Creating new opportunities for the community such as they should be able to work with pride. Also, the value of the forest should be further demonstrated by the information centre/museum. 2) Natural Sciences Facilitating education about ecology & zoology by showcasing artefacts, published research papers, photographs and through technology. This will be a plus point for the researchers who are visiting the forest reserve. Goals This Centre aims to become a catalyst to promote wildlife conservation & awareness and to build a prominent landmark building in the country towards getting attention to the forest and to protect it. This project was selected as a Finalist in the 7 th annual Inspireli Awards in 2022, which is the World’s biggest Architecture Student Competition, with having 1339 participants from 91 countries around the world with a total of 1025 design projects.
PROJECT SUMMARY
Research & Innovation Hub & Business Development Center- Innovation is an essential ingredient for the development of any country. It is an activity often associated with youth as they are more inclined to experiment, take risks & pursue goals relentlessly to achieve success. The Tech Corridor is expected to encourage innovation in a wide variety of fields such as Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Genomics, Drone Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Renewable Energy, Chemical Engineering, Building Technology, Information & Communication Technology, Bionics, Telecommunication, Industrial Electronics, and Robotics & Product Design. On the one hand, they can happen in labs like in the case of Robotics or can happen with the interaction with society like in the case of Facebook. Research & Innovation Hub is to facilitate this activity of innovation, creating facilities for innovators for an incubation period until they find their feet & move on. Business development is integral to this activity as attracting an investor only could convert it into a viable product. Test marketing & business promotion activities could also be associated with the entry.Design Project introduction Research, Innovation and Business represent the backbone of the present dissertation. The use of knowledge in business environments symbolizes the overlapping area of these concepts Nowadays, the knowledge economy challenges researchers to investigate how knowledge is generated, exploited and commercialized to achieve a competitive advantage in today’s dynamic environments. The present CDP project is an example of that. These three pillars, as well as their interaction, need to uplift modern Sri Lankan Society This Innovation and Business idea exchanging hub will be the main scientific knowledge provider in a current society whose final objective is wealth creation and socio economic welfare.Thematic idea & reasons for the choiceThe location for the proposed CDP has been chosen as Homogama Town in Sri Lanka. The potential of the land is a key consideration when choosing drone technology in the city for innovations in future development plans. The Sri Lanka Institute of Nano Technology is the main surrounding structure on this property (SLINTEC). In Sri Lanka, it is the only location with all the equipment based on nanotechnology. Innovations can be developed more by pooling resources and knowledge. Nano Drone Innovation It offers numerous chances for research and development. Numerous university projects have been produced as experiments for use in the health care industry as well as many other fields Because SLINTEC has all of the necessary Nano-tech equipment, this project can cooperate with new research interventions.
