PROJECT SUMMARY

In this project, We were expected to design a personalized house which can become a home for a selected family at a given specific site My client was the Artist Studio Tutor Architect Susil Lamahewa The site was located near the Thalangama Lake with a beautiful view of lake that facing west side. The site had two levels which was advantage. I designed the house into two levels with two accesses which my client and his visitors can enter separately In the client’s brief he had few specific requirements He was so much into truth to material concept, open and connecting spaces He also requested to have his personal study area where he can do researches and a family gathering area where they can have a good time in the evening with the beautiful lake view and the sunset. One of the main attraction of the house is the veranda space where I represent my client's personally through it After entering from the veranda you will enter the living space where have a double height space that connect to each and every space in the house

Project Summary

In this project I designed a small free-standing building which is a studio cum Bedsitter for a for Digital Sculptor Mr Waruna Weligamage. He is pioneer in the digital sculpting industry and currently working in Piliyandala area. We were expected to select an artist known to us. Which should be someone we are able to interview, talk and go and see how their art form is created, performed or done

It was critical since we have to understand and analyze the artist as our client for whom we are mainly designing this precinct for and also understand how he or she carries out activities when indulging in the artistic studio work in order for the studio to complement and provide the best possible space and atmosphere for the purpose for my client We were also asked to find a site close to your current place of residence where you are able to visit and take pictures during this fuel crisis without much travel or risk with new covid variant

Mainly my client requested to have a workstation area, printing area, photography area, painting area, packaging area, living & dining area where he can rest and watch his favorite movies. The selected site had a slope which I had to spilt the studio in to two parts. So I divided the building as the semi private area and private area In the semi private area it is dedicated to client or close friends and family members when they visits to see him The private area is where he work and due to the expensive equipment and his form of workflow it is separated.

When someone enters the studio from the main gate, they will go through the main door to the living and dining area. The sofa in the living space can converted into a small bed where my client can rest or sleep From that space there are few steps that goes downwards to the workstation area which has a beautiful view of the greenery and the small water body at the end of the land.
