SAM LIGHT Slingshot’s team rider covers the finer points of his first signature board, THE REFRACTION
After using the Slingshot Refraction ... I wanted to talk about some of the feature and answer some of the questions you guys had. First of all I’m really stoked on the graphic, Alex Fox killed it. It has been amazing seeing the board out on the water and seeing people enjoying it, and also giving me the feedback that I want to hear. One of the things that impresses me most about this board is how soft the landings are. It’s also really important to me that it goes quick, so I took my GPS watch out and recorded 40 miles an hour. WATCH THE 3-TIME TRIPLE-S CHAMPION IN ACTION.
You might think a 143 sounds big but I weight 75 kilos and I’m 175cm tall. You’d be surprised by the advantages of a bigger board. It’s so smooth through the water and generates a huge amount of pop for freestyle.

The inverted NACA Tech channels not only provide gripe and soft landings but also create a flat section on the center of the board to press on, which ensures your channels never catch on any obstacles, which helps you try new tricks with confidence.
I made sure it had a fast progressive rocker line that helps me boost higher than I’ve gone before and maintain upwind performance. Lastly, whenever there’s no wind I’m at the cable park, and this is the best kiteboard I’ve ever used at the cable park so now I only need one board for everything.
