“Enter Into His Gates with Thanksgiving & Praise” Happy New Year!!! January 2, 2022 OPENING “Father, Jesus, Spirit” By: Fred Hammond
CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 147:12-20 Response: Praise the Lord who reigns above: Alleluia! Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People:
Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! The Lord strengthens the bars of your gates, blesses your children in your midst, makes peace in your borders, fills you with the finest wheat. The Lord sends forth commands to the earth; the word runs swiftly. The Lord gives snow like wool, scatters hoarfrost like ashes, casts forth ice like morsels; who can withstand its cold? The Lord sends forth the word and melts them; makes the wind blow, and the waters flow. The Lord declares the word to Jacob, the statutes and ordinances to Israel. The Lord has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know God’s ordinances. Praise the Lord!
Response: Praise the Lord who reigns above: Alleluia!

CONGREGATIONAL SINGING “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” By: Joseph M. Scriven/Charles C. Converse Verse 1 What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry ev’rything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, o what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry ev’rything to God in prayer! Verse 3 Are we weak and heavy-laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer; in His arms He’ll take and shield thee thou wilt find a solace there. (Verse 2 omitted.)

INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY THROUGH TITHES AND OFFERINGS By: Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane Director of Stewardship & Generosity, Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church God of This Day and All Days: We can only imagine the darkness of the world into which you sent your son – a world that believed that salvation rested on our ability to follow the rules. Jesus came to bring light into that darkness, and into our darkness. As we bring our tithes and offering to you this day, transform them into light for the hungry, for the hopeless, for the forgotten and the oppressed. We will share his light in us! In Christ, we pray. Amen. (John 1:(1-9), 10-18)
