Leader:

CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 19 Response: Hear the commandments of life; give ear, and learn wisdom.

People: Leader: People: Leader: People:

The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims God’s handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them God has set a tent for the sun, which comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and runs its course with joy like a strong man. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and there is nothing hid from its heat.

Response: Hear the commandments of life; give ear, and learn wisdom. Leader: People: Leader: People:

January 23, 2022 “Shake the Foundation” By: Joe Pace

Leader:

Response: Hear the commandments of life; give ear, and learn wisdom.

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.

People:

Moreover by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. But who can understand one’s own errors? Clear me from hidden faults. Also keep your servant from the insolent; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Response: Hear the commandments of life; give ear, and learn wisdom.

CONGREGATIONAL SINGING “Battle Hymn of the Republic” By: Julia Ward Howe/William Steffe

Verse 1 Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword; His truth is marching on. Verse 4 In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me; As He died to make us holy, let us die that all be free! While God is marching on.

INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY THROUGH TITHES AND OFFERINGS By: Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane Director of Stewardship & Generosity, Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church

God Who Created Us: As we gather to worship you, we are conscious that we are all one body in Christ. When one part of the body is hurting, the whole body is wounded; when healing happens, the whole body is blessed. May our giving this morning bring love to the parts of Christ’s body that are feeling unloved and forgotten; and may it bring justice and mercy to those parts that are oppressed and burdened. In our giving, may we find the joy of blessing the whole body of Christ. In his holy name, we pray. Amen. (1 Corinthians 12:12-31a)
