“Enter Into His Gates with Thanksgiving & Praise” Fourth Sunday In Lent March 27, 2022 OPENING “Lord, I Owe You” Arr. By: Kyle E. Kelley CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 32 Response: Be glad in the Lord and rejoice; shout for joy, you upright in heart. Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People:

Blessed are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed are those whom the Lord does not hold guilty, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. When I did not declare my sin, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”; then you forgave the guilt of my sin.

Response: Be glad in the Lord and rejoice; shout for joy, you upright in heart. Leader: People: Leader: People:

Leader: People:

Therefore let those who are godly offer prayer to you; at a time of distress, the rush of great waters shall not reach them. You are a hiding place for me, you preserve me from trouble; you encompass me with deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Do not be like an unruly horse or a mule, without understanding, whose temper must be curbed with bit and bridle. Many are the pangs of the wicked; but steadfast love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.

Leader: People:

Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous; shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Response: Be glad in the Lord and rejoice; shout for joy, you upright in heart.

CONGREGATIONAL SINGING “I Am On the Battlefield For My Lord” By: Sylvana Bell/E. V. Banks Arr. By: Joseph Joubert Refrain I am on the battlefield for my Lord, I am on the battlefield for my Lord; And I promised Him that I would serve Him till I die. I am on the battlefield for my Lord. Verse 1 I was alone and idle, I was a sinner too, I heard a voice from heaven, Say there is work to do, I took the Master’s hand, And I joined the Christian band, I’m on the battlefield for my Lord. Verse 3 Now when I met my Savior, I met Him with a smile, He healed my wounded spirit, And owned me as His child, Around the throne of grace, He appoints my soul a place, I’m on the battlefield for my Lord. (Verse 2 omitted.)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY THROUGH TITHES AND OFFERINGS By: Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane Director of Stewardship & Generosity, Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church Long-suffering God: We hear the words of the familiar parable and, at different times, see ourselves as either son. We have received—or demanded—blessings to which we were not entitled and squandered them in self-indulgent living. We have also looked out from our place of superiority and favor and have been indignant over your lavish dispensing of love and mercy. As we bring our gifts this day, we do so in the humble gratitude and recognition that any and all blessings in our life come as your gift of grace. We pray in the name of your greatest gift, Jesus our redeemer. Amen. (Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32)
