CONGREGATIONAL SINGING

Fifth Sunday In Lent April 3, 2022

Verse 1 Would you be free from the burden of sin? There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood. Would you o’er evil a victory win? There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

OPENING “In This Place” By: Joshua’s Troop Soloist: Mr. Rayfield Graves CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 126 Response: For the night weeping may tarry; with the morning light comes joy. Leader: People: Leader: People:

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.

Response: For the night weeping may tarry; with the morning light comes joy. Leader: People: Leader: People:

Restore our fortunes, O Lord, like the watercourses in the Negeb! May those who sow in tears reap with shouts of joy! Those who go forth weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, carrying their sheaves.

Response: For the night weeping may tarry; with the morning light comes joy.

THE OLD TESTAMENT READINGS Isaiah 43:16-21 Psalm 126

MINISTRY THROUGH TITHES AND OFFERINGS By: Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane Director of Stewardship & Generosity, Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church Loving God: You give and give, and didn’t think the life of your son was too high a price to pay for our salvation. Jesus’ life was an example of sacrificial giving, all the way to the cross. As we give this day, we want our gifts to impact the world, but even more, we want them to bring glory to Christ, who lived and died for all your children. Help us to not hold back anything. We pray in the name of your son, our savior and redeemer. Amen. (John 12:1-8)

Our Youth Bible Study is on break until further notice.  FOOD PANTRY MINISTRY

The refrigerator has a few items left—oranges, tomatoes, bread, sweets, etc., so stop by the kitchen on your way out. The tables at the end of the hall have drinks and non-perishables.  FOOD PANTRY DISTRIBUTION

NEXT SATURDAY, April 9th from 9:00-11:00 AM Our Food Pantry serves the community on the second Saturday of each month; but if there is ever an emergency need for food, please contact the church office Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. @ 757-628-6543, and we will make arrangements with our Food Pantry Ministry for you to pickup some food.  TEXT CONNECT FROM CHERYL

We have a new ministry at NUMC! Ms. Cheryl Moore is using her gifts from God to Bless others through text messages! She will be sending out inspirational prayers and messages. God touched her heart and she wants to encourage others. Imagine if every person who receives a text sends it to one other person, we can reach a multitude of people. “Thank God for meeting me where I was in my life, to use me for His Glory!” Thank you, my church family, for your support.
