“Enter Into His Gates with Thanksgiving & Praise” Palm/Passion Sunday April 10, 2022 OPENING “For Your Glory” By: Tasha Cobb CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 31:9-16 Response: A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing. Leader: People:

Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief, my soul and body also. For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my misery, and my bones waste away. I am the scorn of all my adversaries, a horror to my neighbors, an object of dread to my acquaintances; those who see me in the street flee from me. I have passed out of mind like one who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel. For I hear the whispering of many— terror all around!— as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life. But I trust in you, O Lord, I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors. Let your face shine on your servant; save me through your steadfast love!
Response: A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing.
CONGREGATIONAL SINGING
INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP
“God Never Fails” By: George Jordan Arr. By: Jeffrey P. Radford
MINISTRY THROUGH TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Refrain God never fails. God never fails. He abides in me. He gives me victory. No, God never fails! Just keep the faith, and never cease to pray; just walk upright, call Him noon, day or night. He’ll be there. He’ll be there. There’s no need to worry, for God never fails! Verse 1 I never worry, I never fret; for God Almighty has never failed me yet. Though ’buked and scorned, I know that I’ve been reborn, for God never fails. Verse 2 No need to worry, no need to cry; I’ve got my Lord, I now He is on my side. Daily I trust, I never shall doubt Him, for God never fails.
By: Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane Director of Stewardship & Generosity, Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church Triumphant God: We echo the shouts of “Hosanna!” as we relive the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and all that waits in the week to come. Like that first parade so long ago, we may have different ideas of what kind of a messiah we long to welcome. Many of us seek one who thinks like we think, who will wield power to meet our longings. As we give our gifts this morning, may we be of the heart and mind of submission. You know better than us, the messiah that is needed for your kingdom to come on earth, as it is in heaven. In Christ, we pray. Amen. (Luke 19:28-40 & Luke 22:14-23:56)

EGGFEST 2022
Norfolk United Methodist Church
Next Saturday, April 16th from 12:00-2:00 PM This activity will be a community event, held on the church grounds. Anyone who is a vendor in the church and wishes to sell their products may come and setup a table at 11 a.m. (No cost to church members only.) We will need lots of volunteers because EGGFEST will be done like “Trunk or Treats.” The kids will go around from car to car and fill their baskets. Children are asked to bring their own baskets for this event. Persons who come to our food bank with children have been invited to this event also. If you are a church member and cannot attend, please consider donating. Donations don’t just have to be candy items for the baskets; children like pencils, chips, books, school supply items, etc. Thanking all in advance, Brenda Turner-Cabarras. LIVING OUR BELIEFS - THE UNITED METHODIST WAY
Saturday, April 16 & 30 from 9 AM - 12 PM This class is not just for Lay Servants. Anyone interested in learning about our United Methodist beliefs is welcome to attend! Those seeking to earn an Advance Course Certificate are required to attend all 3 sessions. Check your email for the link to register.
Here we are again. We are on the brink of the remembrance of the central event of our faith. Holy Week and Easter shape our understanding of who we are as followers of Jesus Christ more than any other single event. We are, as others have said, Easter people living in a Good Friday world. We are defined by this sacrifice and by this gift of eternity. And it all begins with Palm Sunday.
