“Enter Into His Gates with Thanksgiving & Praise” Easter Sunday April 17, 2022 OPENING “Risen” By: Israel Houghton CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 118:14-29 Response: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice, let us rejoice, let us rejoice and be glad. Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People:
The Lord is my strength and my power; the Lord has become my salvation. There are joyous songs of victory in the tents of the righteous: “The right hand of the Lord does valiantly, the right hand of the Lord is exalted. the right hand of the Lord does valiantly!” I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord. The Lord has chastened me sorely, but has not given me over to death. Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter through them and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous shall enter through it.
Response: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice, let us rejoice, let us rejoice and be glad. Leader: People: Leader: People:
I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation. The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Response: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice, let us rejoice, let us rejoice and be glad.
Leader: People:
Save us, we beseech you, O Lord! O Lord, we beseech you, give us success!
Leader: People:
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord.
Leader:
The Lord is God, who has given us light. Lead the festal procession with branches, up to the horns of the altar!
People: Leader: People:
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God, I will extol you. O give thanks to the Lord, who is good; for God’s steadfast love endures forever!
Response: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice, let us rejoice, let us rejoice and be glad.

“Because He Lives” By: Gloria Gaither/William J. Gaither Arr. By: Nolan Williams, Jr. Refrain Because He lives I can face tomorrow; Because He lives all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future; And life is worth the living just because He lives. Verse 1 God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus, He came to love, heal, and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives. Verse 3 And then one day I’ll cross the river, I’ll fight life’s final war with pain; And then as death gives way to vict’ry, I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.
Mighty God of Resurrection Power: You offer us life that overcomes death, light that overcomes darkness, hope that overcomes our deepest despair! What response could we offer? Our tithes and gifts, yes; but our minds, hearts, bodies, and witness as well. May our minds be about understanding who you are and who you long for us to be in this world. May our hearts overflow with your love and compassion for the poor, the oppressed, and the forgotten. May our bodies carry us out of the tombs of isolation to engage our neighbors as sisters and brothers. May our witness be the “Alleluias!” we take with us to bring hope to everyone we meet! In the Risen Christ, we pray. Amen. (John 20:1-18 or Luke 24:1-12)
