CALL TO WORSHIP “Psalm 98” Response: Sing a new song to the Lord, who restores the ends of the earth. Leader:

People:

Leader: People:

O sing to the Lord a new song, for the Lord has done marvelous things! God’s right hand and holy arm have gotten the victory. The Lord has declared victory, and has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations. The Lord has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.

Response: Sing a new song to the Lord, who restores the ends of the earth. Leader: People:

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!

Leader:

Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the Ruler, the Lord!

People:

Response: Sing a new song to the Lord, who restores the ends of the earth. Leader: People:

Let the sea roar, and all that fills it, the world and those who dwell in it! Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together before the Lord, who comes to judge the earth.

Verse 1 Faith of our mothers, living yet, In cradle song and bedtime prayer, In nurs’ry love and fireside love, Thy presence still pervades the air: Faith of our mothers, living faith, We will be true to thee till death. Verse 3 Faith of our mothers, guiding faith, For youthful longing—youthful doubt, How blurred our vision, blind our way, Thy providential care without: Faith of our mothers, guiding faith, We will be true to thee till death. Verse 4 Faith of our mothers, Christian faith, In truth beyond our man-made creeds, Still serve the home and save the church, And breathe thy spirit through our deeds: Faith of our mothers, Christian faith, We will be true to thee till death. (Verse 2 omitted.)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP HOLY COMMUNION MINISTRY THROUGH TITHES AND OFFERINGS By: Rev. Dr. Ken Sloane Director of Stewardship & Generosity, Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church

God of unimaginable love, we have known of your caring since we were babies in our mother’s arms. We have been told the stories of your love, and we have sung songs about your love. These things bring us comfort. What challenges us is the command of Jesus, “As I have loved you, so you should love one another” – not just those who think as we do, pray as we do, and look the way that we do. Help us, through our giving, our living, and our loving, to live up to the challenge of loving as you would have us love. In the name of our risen Savior, we pray. Amen. (John 15:9-17)
