St. Louis University High
Our Premier Sponsors
Mary and Joseph Stieven ’78
Thank You!
Dear SLUH Families, Alumni, Benefactors and Friends, Thank you for supporting Cashbah and the mission of St. Louis U High! Your incredible generosity to SLUH extends far beyond our campus because our graduates are leaders who work for the common good, pursue excellence and live as Men for Others. This remarkable 51-year event helps fulfill the vision of our founders of an affordable education in the Jesuit tradition by directly benefiting our generous financial aid program, which provides $4.1 million in aid to more than 40 percent of our students. Our need-blind admission policy engenders statusblind friendships and allows SLUH to serve young men based on their ability to succeed and not their families’ economic circumstances. We look to our future with great hope and excitement, with a vision that punctuates our Jesuit, Catholic identity and calls us to continue to be accessible, inclusive, relevant and transformative. Cashbah 20/20 Vision presents the opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our incredible volunteers, led by Cashbah cochairs, Carol Andrew and Martha McArthur, and to thank you for giving our Jr. Bills the opportunity to develop their Godgiven gifts and talents so they might heed the words of St. Ignatius to “set the world on fire.” With your support, our vision comes clearly into focus—and our future looks bright! Gratefully,
Alan Carruthers President

General Information •
Rules for the Live, Overhead, Class Baskets, and Sign-Up Parties precede their respective sections in this catalog.
•
Receipts are delivered to electronic devices after 9 p.m. If the buyer did not sign up for Express Pay, payment will be collected at the bank in the Danis Lobby by 10:30 p.m. Payments are accepted as cash, check, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or VISA. Payment on Saturday, April 4, 2020, is mandatory.
•
All sales are final. No exchanges or returns, unless specifically stated.
•
All gift certificates, trips, parties, or services must be used by April 1, 2021, unless otherwise specified by the donor.
•
Failure, for whatever cause, to arrange a trip, meal, party, etc., within the time limit and according to the specified conditions and/or limitations, imposes absolutely no obligation for a refund by the donor or by St. Louis University High School (SLUH). Transfer to another party by the winning bidder imposes no obligation on the donor or SLUH.
•
Cashbah strives to be as accurate as possible in listing donors and apologizes for any errors. When a donor is listed as “Friend of SLUH,” either the donor prefers anonymity or the gift was purchased with money from either gift gathering parties or cash donations.
•
All goods and services purchased at Cashbah will be used at the sole risk of the purchaser and neither Cashbah nor SLUH will be responsible or liable for any damage or injury occurring to any user of said purchased goods and services. All items are sold “as is,” and neither Cashbah nor SLUH makes any warranty or guarantee as to the merchantability or suitability of any such items.
•
Cashbah 2020 believes that $40 per ticket is a reasonable estimate of the fair market value of the dinner, drinks, and services provided during Cashbah 2020. Therefore, for the ticket purchase of $175, the charitable contribution is $135.
•
Cashbah is a charity auction for the benefit of SLUH and is a tax-exempt charitable organization as described in Internal Revenue Code Section 501c (3). Direct donations to SLUH qualify as charitable contributions from the donors and are deductible for income tax purposes to the extent allowed by law. Patrons are asked to view the auction’s policies and procedures with this in mind and to join in the charitable spirit of this event. In accordance with IRS regulations, the successful bidder of each item will be given a receipt that states the school’s good faith estimate of the fair market value of the item for the bidder’s income tax records.
•
Please be advised that Internal Revenue Service rules require the taxpayer to substantiate charitable donations with a written acknowledgement from the charity. The amount of your purchase at Cashbah that may qualify as a charitable contribution is limited to the excess of the amount of the purchase price over the fair market value of the auction item you purchased. An official receipt for your income tax records will be mailed. Please consult your tax advisor as to the deductibility of your donation. If the purchased item consists solely of intangible religious benefit, it is regarded, for tax purposes, to have no fair market value, and will, therefore, be regarded as a charitable contribution.
•
The Internal Revenue Service does not regard the purchase price of a raffle ticket to constitute a charitable contribution.
•
We expect that Cashbah guests will drink responsibly, act appropriately, and set a good example to SLUH students present this evening. We will arrange transportation home for anyone who requests it.

Fund-A-Need Everyone I know at SLUH encourages me to be the best version of myself. Even after all my time here, I am surprised by the generous spirit of my teachers who bring a joyful attitude to class. This constant energy leaves me with the love and joy of knowing how blessed I am to partake in the community we call SLUH. -Andrew
Fund-A-Need is a critical part of our evening. During the Live Auction, we pause and ask you to consider a direct donation to support the financial aid program at St. Louis University High. SLUH is blessed with a tremendous faculty and staff, with a beautiful facility that continues to evolve to meet developing educational needs, and programs that offer our students the opportunities to explore their curiosities. But, our most critical work -- our mission -- is to serve all qualified young men like Andrew, regardless of their families’ economic circumstances. This means that SLUH is committed to meeting the demonstrated financial aid needs of families each year. This year’s total financial aid will exceed $6 million, including $4.1 million in direct financial aid to those 40% of families that have demonstrated needs. Your gift to Fund-A-Need enables SLUH to fulfill this bold mission. We cannot achieve these goals without you. The students who rely on financial aid to attend SLUH could not be part of this community without your generosity. Thank you for the many ways you support the young men of SLUH, and for raising your paddle to benefit our Jr. Bills.

SPONSORS
We are blessed by the generosity of tonight’s 20/20 Vision sponsors and patrons. Their exceptional support of Cashbah has provided more than $376,000* to the scholarship program of SLUH before a single bid has been made or paddle has been raised. This tremendous amount will have a real and lasting impact on our young men. These sponsorships were only possible because of the scores of letters, emails, phone calls, and other outreach made by our 20/20 Vision Sponsorship Committee, listed below. The group, co-chaired by SLUH parents Jeff Johnston and Laurie Phillips, has worked tirelessly in the months leading up to the auction to ensure a robust group of sponsors for this year’s event. Please join me in thanking our sponsors and those who worked to encourage their support.
