Dear SLUH Families, Alumni, Benefactors and Friends, Thank you for supporting Cashbah and the mission of St. Louis U. High! Your incredible generosity to SLUH extends far beyond our campus because our graduates are leaders who work for the common good, pursue excellence and live as Men for Others. This remarkable 52-year event helps fulfill the vision of our founders of an affordable education in the Jesuit tradition by directly benefiting our generous financial aid program, which under additional strains placed on our families by the pandemic, provided over $4.4 million in direct aid to more than 40 percent of our students. Our need-blind admission policy allows SLUH to serve young men based on their ability to succeed and not their families’ economic circumstances. With your support, we continue to foster an environment that punctuates our Jesuit, Catholic identity and calls us to continue to be accessible, inclusive, relevant and transformative. SLUH SPECTACULAR presents the opportunity to celebrate the hard work of our incredible volunteers, and to thank you for giving our Jr. Bills the opportunity to develop their God-given gifts and talents. Gratefully, Alan Carruthers President
Welcome to Cashbah 2021 SLUH SPECTACULAR! We are so honored to have you join us in what we hope to be our very last virtual-only auction! In the initial planning phases last summer, we realized immediately that our journey was paved with several uncertainties. Despite all of this, we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from everyone: teachers, students, administrators, current and alumni parents, past Cashbah chairs, alumni, staff and friends of SLUH near and far. Together, with the generosity of their time and donations, this community continues to embrace the missions of both Cashbah and SLUH. We are just one small part of Cashbah. We extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to: • The committee chairs and volunteers who have spent countless hours to make SLUH Spectacular a success • The facilities and environmental services staff who worked so hard behind the scenes to help in each and every way • The sponsors who responded so overwhelmingly to the appeal for support—to the tune of over $437,500 • The countless alumni, parents and SLUH staff who donated their time, talents and resources to ensure the items available for bidding are truly spectacular It has been our privilege to co-chair Cashbah and become part of this unique tradition at SLUH. Thank you for your participation and support of what will surely be a SPECTACULAR Cashbah!
With love and gratitude, Megan Browdy and Susan O’Keefe

General Information • Receipts will be distributed to all bidders after the auction. • All sales are final. No exchanges or returns, unless specifically stated. • All gift certificates, trips, parties, or services must be used by April 1, 2022, unless otherwise specified by donor. • Failure, for whatever cause, to arrange a trip, meal, party, etc., within the time limit and according to the specified conditions and/or limitations, imposes absolutely no obligation for a refund by the donor or by St. Louis University High School (SLUH). Sale to another party by the winning bidder imposes no obligation on the donor or SLUH. • Cashbah strives to be as accurate as possible in listing donors and apologizes for any errors. When a donor is listed as “Friend of SLUH,” either the donor prefers anonymity or the gift was purchased with money from either gift gathering parties or cash donations. • All goods and services purchased at Cashbah will be used at the sole risk of the purchaser and neither Cashbah nor SLUH will be responsible or liable for any damage or injury occurring to any user of said purchased goods and services. All items are sold “ as is,” and neither Cashbah nor SLUH makes any warranty or guarantee as to the merchantability or suitability of any such items. •Cashbah is a charity auction for the benefit of SLUH and is a taxexempt charitable organization as described in Internal Revenue Code Section 501c (3). Direct donations to SLUH qualify as charitable contributions from the donors and are deductible for income tax purposes to the extent allowed by law. Patrons are asked to view the auction’s policies and procedures with this in mind and to join in the charitable spirit of this event. In accordance
with IRS regulations, the successful bidder of each item will be given a receipt that states the school’s good faith estimate of the actual value of the item for the bidder’s income tax records. •Please be advised that Internal Revenue Service rules require the taxpayer to substantiate charitable donations with a written acknowledgement from the charity. The amount of your purchase at Cashbah that may qualify as a charitable contribution is limited to the excess of the amount of the purchase price over the fair market value of the auction item you purchased. Please consult your tax advisor as to the deductibility of your donation. If the purchased item consists solely of intangible religious benefit, it is regarded, for tax purposes, to have no fair market value, and will, therefore, be regarded as a charitable contribution. • The Internal Revenue Service does not regard the purchase price of a raffle ticket to constitute a charitable contribution.

FUND-A-NEED PRESERVING THE MISSION OF SLUH Joy and community are words that are not generally associated with the haze that has confronted everyone over the last twelve months. But amongst the challenges from COVID, joy and community have been present in the halls of 4970 Oakland Avenue: joy in learning, performing and competing; community in mentoring, conversations and laughter. We can all feel pride in how SLUH has weathered this year and been a source of hope for families.
“No student was or ever will be turned away because of their economic circumstance.”
That isn’t to say it has been easy. As financial aid needs grew 7% to more than $4.4 million, SLUH remained steadfastly committed to meeting the needs of all families. No student was or ever will be turned away because of their economic circumstance.
This unwavering commitment to providing excellence to our Jr. Bills does not happen without the generosity of alumni, parents and friends. You make these spectacular levels of financial aid possible! Fund-A-Need donations provide direct support to this mission of SLUH. These gifts make possible an experience of excellence for all students of promise: in the classroom, through performances that highlight their talents and faith formation opportunities that shape them into young men of competence, character and compassion. You are part of what makes SLUH Spectacular! Thank you for your generosity and for the many ways you support today’s Jr. Bills.
Congratulations AND
Thank You
To Susan and Megan for your SPECTACULAR leadership of Cashbah 2021!

2017 PAPPY VAN WINKLE’S FAMILY RESERVE 23 YEAR The eldest sibling in the Old Rip Van Winkle family, Pappy Van Winkle's 23 Year Old Family Reserve Bourbon is the most elusive of its younger counterparts. This extremely rare and difficult to find 2017 bourbon takes generations of distilling know-how to produce. Only the most careful and expensive distilling method can be used to create a whiskey as special as this one. Barrels for the 23 Year were carefully selected from the heart of the warehouse to be bottled into one of the oldest bourbons you can buy. This signature whiskey was stamped on September 12, 2017 (Bottle #I8788). It finishes with a long-lasting and pleasant taste proving that every single month of its 23 years in the barrel has been worth it. We are blessed by the generosity of this year’s SLUH SPECTACULAR sponsors and patrons. Their exceptional support of Cashbah has provided more than $437,500 to the scholarship program of SLUH before a single bid has been made. This tremendous amount will have a real and lasting impact on our young men. These sponsorships were only possible because of the scores of letters, emails, phone calls, and other outreach made by our Sponsorship Committee, listed below. The group, co-chaired by SLUH past parent Dave Peacock and current parent Laurie Phillips, has worked tirelessly in the months leading up to the auction to ensure a robust group of sponsors for this year’s event. Please join me in thanking our sponsors and those who worked to encourage their support. Peace, Alan Carruthers President
