Doug Travis has joined us, and last week’s Feast of Saint Michael and 70th Anniversary was spectacular. This month The Forum - Faith and Literature class will have two of Dallas’ highest elected officials talk about their jobs and their faith, the Rector Search and Transition Committee will discuss findings of the Parish Survey, and we begin getting ready for the Nativity Pageant. There are amazing things happening at Saint Michael. Get connected! Thank you for worshiping with us today. Dallas School Board Member at The Forum – Faith and Society Today. Miguel Solis, a member of the Dallas School District Board, will address The Forum – Faith and Society today at 10:00 in the Saint Michael Chapel. Solis was elected to the Dallas School Board in November, 2013 and served as its president in 2014. He is the executive director of the Latino Center for Leadership Development in Dallas. It’s Time to Give Life - Blood Drive Is Today. The Saint Michael/ Red Cross Blood Drive today, October 4 from 8:00 to 1:00 at the ESD Lower School Lobby. You can drop in. Be a part of National Night Out at Jubilee Park on Tuesday, October 6 from 5:00 to 8:00. It’s an opportunity to support crime prevention, police-community partnerships, and have fellowship with Jubilee Park residents. We need several volunteers to help with the evening’s events. Saint Michael’s Good Shepherds, the neighbor-helping-neighbor ministry, will have its Annual Meeting and Luncheon Thursday, October 8 at 11:30 in the Youth Center. Parish Survey: Results and Conversation Meetings Scheduled The Rector Search and Transition Committee has scheduled four meetings in October to discuss the Parish Survey; your views and the characteristics you want in our new Rector. Want to pray on someone’s behalf, or offer up thanksgivings? Prayer Teams are available to pray with you after each Sunday morning service. An usher can direct you to the various prayer locations. Prayer Candles. Prayer candle stands are in the Bishop Moore and Saint Michael chapels. A $1 donation for lit candles is appreciated.

HELP COOK OR SERVE AT AUSTIN STREET SHELTER. We need volunteers October 6 and 7 to either cook or serve at the Austin Street Shelter for the homeless. We cook Tuesday evening at 5:30 in the Parish Hall Kitchen, and serve the meal Wednesday evening at 5:30 at the Shelter. If you can help cook on Tuesday, contact Randy Rekerdres at randy@rekins.com. If you can serve on Wednesday, contact Rita Davis at rrdavis14@aol.com. SINGLE – N – SAINTS MOVIE & DINNER NIGHT. You are invited to join the Single – N – Saints for a movie and dinner Saturday, October 10 at Mockingbird Station at North Central Expressway and Mockingbird. Meet at 4:30 at the Angelika Film Center for the movie, and for dinner at the Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom. Show-up for the show, food, and fun. NATIVITY PAGEANT TRYOUTS SET FOR OCTOBER 11. Tryouts for 3rd through 8th grade children for this year’s Nativity Pageant will be held Sunday, October 11 between 12:00 Noon and 2:00 p.m. and between 4:00. and 6:00. All children who tryout will get a part in the production. If your child is between 3 years old and 2nd grade, they already have a part, you just need to get them registered at www.saintmichael.org/nativity. Mark your calendar: the pageant will be Sunday, December 20. Prayer Team Offers Music and Quiet Time Over Lunch – Wednesday, October 14. Lunch is a great time to relieve a little stress and reset your day. There’s no better place than at Noonday Prayers in the Saint Michael Chapel. Music Director James Diaz will provide the music to sooth a tough morning and there will be 10 minutes of quiet, meditative time and intercessory prayer for those who would like it. The first Noonday Prayers will be Wednesday, October 14 beginning at 11:45 in the Saint Michael Chapel. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy a leisurely lunch. You can come and go as you want. Think about bringing a friend. HELP OUR INTERIM RECTOR – WEAR YOUR NAMETAG. You may know everyone in the Church, but our Interim Rector Doug Travis doesn’t. He has begun his ministry with us, and a great way to help welcome him is to wear your nametag. If you need a new one, the receptionist in the South Lanai will make it for you. Wearing your nametag will help Doug (and others) get to know you. PT Cruisers Head North in October. PT Cruisers to visit our neighbor to the northMcKinney! On Thursday, October 15, we will board the bus at the church at 11:00 for the drive to Chestnut Square in McKinney where we will have lunch and then a bus tour of the town led by one of their docents. We will see everything from their festive fall-decorated square to their blue stocking district and everything in between. Cost for our outing is $20. Call Mary Davis for reservations at 214-363-7761. The deadline for reservations is Sunday, October 11. Disciples Class Wants Books for Jubilee Park. Every year Saint Michael’s 6th Grade Disciples Confirmation Class collects books to take to Jubilee Park. The group sorts the books by age and takes them to the community center for distribution at the Jubilee Park Literacy Fair. Bring new or gently used books for all ages to the Youth Center by November 4. Help spread the word. Honduras Threads Studio Sale Set for October 23 - 25. Save the Date! October 23-25 is Honduras Threads Annual Studio Sale at Craighead Green Gallery, 1011 Dragon Street in the Design District. Towers has joined the clergy staff at Saint Michael and All Angels as a Weekend Associate. During the week he is the Lower School Chaplain at The Episcopal School of Dallas. Fr. Towers is completing a Doctor of Ministry in Educational Leadership at Virginia Theological Seminary.
