THE THIRD SUNDAY IN LENT

THE THIRD SUNDAY IN LENT
MARCH 3, 2024
The Rev. Dr. Christopher D. Girata
We’re so glad you’ve joined us at Saint Michael today. We’d love to get to know you better, so please take a moment to fill out the welcome card, either physically or digitally, that can be found on the opposite page or in the pew back in front of you. Our Welcome Team members are in the hallways today to help you with anything you need.
We are now in the holy season of Lent. Today, all adults are invited to join us for our Spring Parish Meeting in the Church at 10 a.m. All children and youth Sunday classes are meeting today at their regular schedule. In addition, we are offering special programs every Wednesday in Lent, including recitals at 12:10 a.m., an evening dinner, and classes beginning at 6 p.m. Please also take advantage of the weekday clergy meditations that can be streamed anywhere you listen to podcasts. See the information in this bulletin for all the details you need.
As we prepare to worship together, I invite you to take a moment and center yourself on God’s presence. Worshiping, learning, and giving together help us grow closer to who God created us to be, and you’re part of that work. May God bless you today and every day, and I hope to see you again very soon!
Welcome! Follow these steps to find out what life is like at Saint Michael. Questions? Contact Rob Springer-Kyle at rspringer@saintmichael.org or 214-692-3008.

The light of Christ has come into the world. The light of Christ has come into the world.
This is the day, this is the day. That the Lord has made, that the Lord has made. We will rejoice. We will rejoice, and be glad in it. And be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made.

The Peace
Celebrant The peace of the Lord be always with you.
People And also with you.
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see!
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.
The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.
Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come.
‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we’d first begun.
Words: St. 1-4 John Newton (1725-1807), St. 5 attributed to John Rees, fl. 1859 Public Domain
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The Eucharistic Prayer continues.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Members of the congregation may come forward to receive Communion from the Celebrant.
Please join in the singing of the Communion songs.

Chatter with the angels, soon in the morning.
Chatter with the angels, join that band, I hope to join that band. And chatter with the angels all day long. I hope to join that band.
And chatter with the angels all day long.

I am the bread of life. They who come to me shall not hunger. They who believe in me shall not thirst. No one can come to me unless the Father draw them.
Refrain:
And I will raise them up, and I will raise them up, And I will raise them up on the last day.
The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world, And they who eat of this bread, they shall live forever, they shall live forever. Refrain
Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man and drink of his blood, you shall not have life within you, you shall not have life within you. Refrain
I am the resurrection, I am the life. They who believe in me, even if they die, they shall live forever. Refrain
Yes, Lord, we believe that you are the Christ, The Son of God who has come into the world. Refrain

I want Jesus to walk with me.
I want Jesus to walk with me.
All along my pilgrim journey, Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me.
In my trials Lord, walk with me.
In my trials Lord, walk with me. When my heart is almost breaking, Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me.
When I’m in trouble Lord, walk with me.
When I’m in trouble Lord, walk with me.
When my head is bowed in sorrow, Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me.

Jesus loves me, this I know, For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak, but He is strong.
Refrain:
Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so.
Boys and girls across the sea, Jesus loves as well as me.
So our little friends are they, And together we can say. Refrain

The Closing Song
Somebody’s knockin’ at your door.
Somebody’s knockin’ at your door.
