THE TENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST SAINT MICHAEL CHAPEL | 9 AM
JOY! A Childr en’s Service AUGUST 14, 2022
We’re glad you’re here! We would love to get to know you and help you get to know us. Saint Michael is a vibrant group of people choosing to live life as a community: pursuing Jesus, caring for one another, and serving those in need. While you’re here with us today, we’d love for you to do two things:
1.
Fill out a Welcome Card. They’re in the pew back in front of you, or use the QR code to use the quick, mobile-friendly “Get in Touch” form.
At Saint Michael we are all about connecting, serving, and growing. To learn more about us, find ways to get involved, or see a map of the campus, scan the QR code.
2.
Stop by the South entrance. You’ll see greeters wearing “Welcome” ribbons/lanyards and they can answer questions about a worship service, formation class, or childcare. We look forward to seeing you soon!

FROM THE VICE RECTOR Dear Friends, Our Fall Kickoff is today! Back together in person, we’re worshiping, blessing backpacks, enjoying fellowship in the Garden Cloister, and welcoming Chris Girata back from sabbatical. We’re also launching our new children’s book, “Stories from the Bible, from Creation to Pentecost,” featuring sermons from the Joy service by Father Michael Harmuth and illustrations by our Graphic Designer, Travis Harvey. Both men are signing books in the Parlor today. As we begin the new program year, I invite you to go deeper into the life of faith: pray and read the Bible daily; attend worship and formation classes weekly; volunteer with a mission and outreach project monthly. These are practical ways we can become Christian disciples and bless the world around us.

“Amazing Grace” Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see! ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to hear, and grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed. The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures. Through many dangers, toils, and snares I have already come. ‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home. When we’ve been there ten thousand years bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we’d first begun. Words: St. 1-4 John Newton (1725-1807), St. 5, attributed to John Rees, fl. 1859; CCLI #1718120
“Let Us Break Bread Together” Let us break bread together on our knees, Let us break bread together on our knees When I fall on my knees With my face to the rising sun, Oh Lord, have mercy on me. Let us drink wine together on our knees, Let us drink wine together on our knees, When I fall on my knees With my face to the rising sun, Oh Lord, have mercy on me.

Women of Saint Michael SAINT MARY’S GUILD NEEDS YOU!
Calling all bakers! Start your ovens and join St. Mary’s Guild for the 2022-2023 season! For 75 years, our dedicated bakers have provided home-baked pies, cakes, cookies, and other goodies for sale each Sunday morning from late August through May. But we need new members to bake and sell at the Sunday tables. Each member joins one of four teams and is only responsible for baking and/or selling once a month. You can bake only, sell only, or bake and sell. Selling on Sundays is a great way to meet other parishioners, visit with new and old friends, and enjoy a new fellowship group. Members can choose their sell times between 8:30 and 11 a.m. and still attend a service. All proceeds go to local charities. Join us to enliven your Saint Michael experience. Contact Anne Rushing at arushing81@gmail.com or call 214-532-9450 to sign up.
Catch up with your friends after a long, hot summer and bring a friend! We will eat hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats and play football and other tailgate games. Make sure you wear your favorite jersey!
