About The Collegiate Trust
The Collegiate Trust works in the boroughs of Croydon and Crawley, educating children and young people from 3-19 years of age with a clear vision to deliver exceptional education for all. Such an education achieves excellent outcomes in pupil progress and attainment, a rich creative, cultural and physical learning experience, and great personal and social development for all pupils. This is achieved by working with and developing strong teams of staff in each school, under the direction of the Principal of the school and the Local Governing Body (LGB).
The Trust grew out of Riddlesdown Collegiate, an outstanding (OFSTED, May 2016) secondary school in Croydon with over 2,000 students and 200 staff. Gossops Green (p6), in Crawley, was the next school (and the first primary) to join the Trust, followed by Waterfield Primary (p12) (also in Crawley). The Quest Academy, Courtwood Primary (p5) and Gilbert Scott Primary were the next cohort of schools to join the Trust, followed by Kenley Primary School (p9) most recently in September 2021. In 2022, Gilbert Scott Primary became Quest Primary (p11).

Courtwood Primary School
Courtwood Primary School is a one form entry community primary school, located in Forestdale, South Croydon.
Courtwood Primary children are well motivated and a pleasure to work with. They relate positively to each other and to visitors and demonstrate good behaviour both in and out of the classroom. We strive to provide the very best learning environment and learning experiences for our children, and it is the combination of these factors that leads to the improving standards at our school.
An Inclusive Community and Nurturing School
We passionately believe in the inclusion of every child; the school has an excellent reputation in the borough for inclusion and provides specialist teaching for children on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder in our Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP). We have a strong nurturing ethos and a purpose-built Nurture provision (The Sunshine Room) where we develop children’s social and emotional skills, resilience, self-esteem, and confidence. The children at Courtwood Primary School are happy, kind, resilient and motivated learners.
Outdoor Learning
At Courtwood Primary, we are fortunate to have extensive outdoor space with our own Forest School, pond and Edible Playground which we use to promote outdoor education for our children across the mainstream and ELP. Our own woodland has been specifically developed to deliver Forest School sessions, where children learn skills such as den building, bushcraft and cooking on an open fire. Learning outside the classroom provides children with the opportunity to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning, supporting the development of healthy and active lifestyles by offering children opportunities for physical
activity, freedom and movement, and promoting a sense of well-being. Our outdoor education complements the learning which takes place across all the curriculum subjects, in the classrooms.
Curriculum
We aim to provide a broad, balanced and rich curriculum designed to engage and develop a love of learning. Our curriculum is carefully planned and ensures our children are equipped with the knowledge, vocabulary, and cultural capital that they need to support future learning. We view learning as a partnership and value the relationship between home and school; where there is a shared goal to ensure all children are able to reach their potential, both academically and personally.
Admissions to Reception
Offers of places for Reception are made for children whose 5th birthday falls between 1st September and 31st August, through Croydon Local Authority. All applications are made online, via the following link www.croydon.gov.uk/schools-and-education/ schools/school-admissions and need to be submitted by 15th January 2025.
We encourage all parents to visit our school before making a final decision and applying for a place. We hold Open Mornings during the Autumn Term. Keep a look out on our website for the dates. Please phone the school office to book your place.
Gossops Green
Gossops Green Primary School opened over 60 years ago and is at the very heart of the local community. We provide a calm, purposefu learning environment that strives to provide exceptional education and the best learning opportunities possible for all. This has been recognised by Ofsted, who judged the school GOOD with OUTSTANDING for Early Years and Leadership and Management.
Developing the whole child
Gossops Green children are taught to be considerate and care for their school, their community, and for one another. They learn that they have the power to make the world a fairer, kinder place and they are nurtured to develop confidence, to articulate their ideas and to be proud of who they are. Our children take on leadership roles from an early age and develop essential life skills such as working in a team, leading projects and taking responsibility.
Outdoors learning
Not all children learn in the same way and many children particularly thrive learning outside. The school’s green and expansive schoo grounds provide plenty of space and opportunities for children to learn and play beneath the canopy of trees, enjoy the peace and beauty of our sensory garden, have fun working together orienteering or to explore how to climb, balance, and be active within our newly-created outdoors playspace.
A happy child
A happy child will go on to thrive in their education. Ofsted commented that Gossops Green ‘has a family atmosphere…and staff know their pupils well and look after them carefully.’ Children feel valued, listened to and safe. At Gossops Green, we value the whole child and develop their emotional, physical and mental wellbeing, alongside their academic learning. We put a great emphasis on nurture and wellbeing with a dedicated Nurture team working full-time in school to support children and families.
Extra-Curricular Excellence
Our creative and challenging curriculum is planned around topics that spark children’s interest and make them excited to learn new skills and knowledge. We build in many memorable experiences to bring learning alive and meaningful for our children. We believe our children should experience the best and we were the first primary school in West Sussex to be recognised with the prestigious Music Mark Award due to our exciting and inclusive approach to this wonderful subject. After three consecutive years of achieving the National Gold Mark for exemplary School Games provision, we are proud to now have achieved the prestigious Platinum Award.

Forest School
Kenley Primary School has extensive outdoor space, which is used throughout the year for PE, playtimes and outdoor learning. Our unique Forest School is an area which has been specifically developed to allow the children to take their learning outside of the classroom, where they learn skills such as den building, bushcraft and cooking on an open fire. In
addition, our outdoor spaces allow deeper explorations into Science, History and Art alongside the opportunity of developing ideas that can be used in their story-writing and other indoor learning tasks. Forest School provides excellent opportunities for working together and understanding each other.

Application for Reception places at Kenley Primary School are made through the local authority in which you reside. All applications are made online. We encourage all parents to visit our school before making a final decision and applying for a place. We hold Open Events during the Autumn Term. Keep a look out on our website for the date.

Quest Primary School
Quest Primary School is a single form entry school located in South Croydon. We work n partnership with the other Collegiate Trust schools, to provide the best possible educational outcomes and experiences for our pupils. In March 2023 we were nspected by OFSTED, achieving a ‘GOOD’ rating in all areas. Our focus is on excellent teaching and learning, supported by an engaging and ambitious curriculum offer a ongs de plentiful opportunities for personal development, ensures that pupils can achieve their potential, in a supportive and caring environment.
Our staff provide a calm and stimulating environment where good behaviour and mutual respect is modelled by everyone. Pupils enjoy coming to school and are enthusiastic about learning. We have a arge site with wonderful spacious grounds that include our EYFS outdoor earning area, cookery room, music room, Nurture room and large computing suite. We embrace Reading for Pleasure and this ethos runs throughout the school. We deliver OPAL play and lunchtimes ensuring our children experience quality play every day. We also prov de specialist teaching for children with Moderate Learning Difficulties in our Enhanced Learning Provision.
Our Pupils
Our pupils are hard-working, polite, respectful and understand that
earning unlocks their potential. We give them opportunities to enrich their academic learning through sport, music and the arts as well as opportunities to develop leadership skills. Every child is supported to strive to reach their best, ensuring they leave Quest Primary School as confident, well-rounded and kind young people, with the academic skills they require to be successful at the next stage of their education.
Nursery
The school has an on-site nursery led by a qualified teacher, for up to 26 children and provides both 15 hour and 30 hour funded provision. At the heart of our Nursery is the principle that young children need to play and have fun in order to earn about and understand the world around them.

We take children whose 5th birthday falls during the academic year (from 1st September to 31st August). Croydon local authority is responsible for the application process and forms need to be submitted (online or paper) by the date set in January. Waterfield Primary School
Waterfield Primary School is situated beside a large, beautiful millpond which provides a wealth of first-hand learning opportunities for our children.
A caring two form entry Nursery and Primary, Waterfield firmly believes in forming close community links and sees children’s learning as a dedicated partnership between home and school.
Waterfield’s curriculum is rich in technology and the arts. Recent achievements include holding the Primary Quality Mark, Gold Music Mark and Gold PE Games Mark. The state of the art ‘Tech Hub’ houses robotics and virtual reality headsets, whilst all classes have access to both computer desktop pods and mobile tablet technology, placing Waterfield firmly at the forefront of digital integration.
Other school facilities include a brand-new Sensory Room, AstroTurf Court, Arts Studio, Forest Glade, Science Garden and Outdoor Classroom.

Waterfield aims to provide a broad, balanced and rich curriculum designed to engage and develop a love of learning. Staff at Waterfield celebrate an integrated creative curriculum, which is underpinned by a structured approach to teaching the core subjects. Through dedication and imagination teachers and children create relevant topics that combine to produce unique ‘Vehicles for Learning’ that support personal, academic, creative and physical development.
Setting expectations high and believing that everyone can achieve their potential, Waterfield demonstrates an inclusive environment that prides itself on a culturally rich learning journey that stretches children academically and develops them holistically.
Early Years Department Children are welcomed to Waterfield through the care of the Early Years Department. Featuring a Nursery and two Reception Home Rooms, children are free to explore the wonderful provision both inside and outside. Ongoing refurbishments will see the Tree House classroom, Forest Glade and gross motor castle feature as favourite exploration areas for the children. Learning through creative play, children are encouraged to let their curiosity roam as they learn through adventure, story books and imagination. Synthetic Phonics are taught and all children will experience exposure to early reading, writing and number skills.
Lower School – Years 1-2
The children continue their learning journey in the Lower School where they are offered an exciting curriculum and continue their love of learning through practical, hands-on experiences as well as enjoying formal structured Key Stage One lessons. Utilising the local environment and keeping reading at the forefront of learning, the Lower School prides itself on developing the children’s global understanding.
Middle School – Year 3-4
After building a strong foundation of core skills the children join our Middle School.
During their time in the Middle School, learning is designed to foster independence, build resilience and consolidate the application of foundational skills. Re-visiting knowledge learnt in the Lower School; our children utilise computer hubs/digital platforms and engaging topics to bring their knowledge to life, whilst dynamic small precision groups utilise our staff to ensure EVERY child achieves their personal best. From Monster Hunting, to the exploration of the historical significance of our locality, our learners really grow into true ‘experts’ ready for the Upper School.
Upper School – Years 5-6
The Upper School is a genuine learning community that draws on the ambitious outcomes created by the Lower School.
Technology, discussion and reflection are utilised to generate independent learners who are engaged in the wider world. Cross-curricular themes enable deeper exploration into concepts, whilst a high focus on pastoral care supports the children as they look forward to the next phase of their education.
