We have put this guide together to help you start making your Prestart selections before they are unlocked on your Smart Portal. Take time to go through each section and pick out those special finishing touches to make this your dream home. Your Prestart Meeting will take approx. 3-5 hours to complete. Your Prestart Meeting is to finalise: — All internal and external colour selections and finishes — All product selections and upgrades — The electrical layout of your home — All relevant contract documentation Smart tip: It is important to note that no structural changes can be made during your Prestart meeting and should be sorted prior. This includes, but is not limited to, changes to window sizes, door locations, render, cladding and roof cover type.

s r e i l p p u S l a n e x t er Flooring If you have opted for a floor covering package, you will need to attend our two external suppliers showrooms to make your selections. Only a limited number of selections can be viewed at BGC Home, which is why we suggest visiting our suppliers beforehand. It’s super important to note, if your selections from Crosbys and Trevors are not completed prior to your Prestart, it may get rescheduled until they are.

Crosby Tiles is where you’ll be able to select your wet area tiling, cabinetry, and main floor tiling (if applicable). There are two locations, so you can take your pick. We recommend you go to the Osborne Park showroom if you can, as it has a lot on display! The two showroom addresses are: — Osborne Park – 46 Hector Street West, Osborne Park Western Australia 6917. — Myaree – 88 McCoy Street, Myaree Western Australia 6154.

Trevors Carpets is where you’ll select your main flooring (unless you’re opting for tiles) and bedroom flooring. They stock a wide range of carpets, hybrids, laminate, vinyls and timber planks that can be included in your new home. Our preferred showroom is in Osborne Park, here you’ll get the VIS (Very Important Smartie) treatment. Plus, it’s just minutes away from BGC Home, so you can really make a day of it! You can always visit one of their other showroom locations to view their full range of products, but we recommend going to Osborne Park to finalise those selections. k r o w p e r p r e ot h Gas & Electricity We know, there is A LOT to remember for Prestart. Before your meeting, you will also be required to set up a new electricity and gas account for your new property. This will allow us to connect services to your site once we enter the construction phase. Please bring one of the below to your Prestart meeting: — Completed gas & electricity forms — New gas & electricity account numbers If you have any questions about setting up your gas and electricity accounts, please get in touch with your Contracts Administrator and they can guide you through it step by step.

Smart tip: You will not be able to set these accounts up until you have land titles for your block.

Electrical Planning Prior to your Prestart, you will also need to mark out where you will want your power points, light points, TV points and light switches to be as these will be selected in the meeting. To do this, make sure you consider the location of any furniture that will be in your home as this will help with the positioning of any additional power points or lights. Here are some of our smart tips: — The kitchen – Where are you gonna place your microwave, your dishwasher, coffee machine, and toaster? Do you need extra power on different sides of the kitchen bench? — Bedroom – Do you read before bed? Where’s your bedside lamp gonna go? Do you charge your phone beside your bed too? Maybe figure out where you will place your bed, and then place a powerpoint or two on either side #stylesmarts — Living – Where do you want to put your electric heater in winter? If you’re hanging a TV on the wall, you’ll need a TV bracket and therefore should allow for additional electrical work! If you have a dedicated theatre space, consider adding dimmer switches. But most importantly, where will your Christmas tree go? — Show us the extras! – Do you want dimmers? Ceiling fans? And what’s your plan for aircon? Power points in most rooms are positioned at 300mm above floor level or 1050mm in kitchens above the benchtop. You should also consider adding conduits throughout your home for additional wiring in the future. There is a designated Intelligent Home representative located in BGC Home for any smart wiring questions.
