Fraser Milne This story includes words where -er makes an ‘uh’ sound (like when you are thinking of something). This is also known as the schwa sound. It is often found in words that end in -er like ‘power’. It can replace other ‘r’ controlled and short vowels too such as ‘e’ in ‘the’.
