h, those New Year’s resolutions: OK, this year I am really, really going to lose 30 pounds — by April! And I am going to run five miles a day — starting tomorrow! And I’m cutting out carbs completely, beginning tonight. Or maybe your goals for 2013 are a tiny bit easier to achieve — to finally get a haircut that makes you look more professional, perhaps, or banish spider veins before bathing suit season, or learn how to do your makeup so you look younger. Or, even — making your husband get his back hair removed! Perhaps this could be the year you plan to really go for the gold and get cosmetic surgery — goodbye jowls, flat chest and weak chin! There are so many new procedures for looking good and getting healthier, the days of all or nothing are over. You don’t have to go for a full facelift and stay in bed for two weeks if one of a multitude of less invasive measures will do the trick. Nor must you train for a triathlon to increase your lifespan … there are less drastic measures that will work as well.
