En 1975 nació el concepto de la Union Internationale de Médecine Esthétique. Este concepto, ahora global, fue el proyecto de cuatro verdaderos pioneros en el campo de la medicina estética, a saber: el Dr. Carlo-Alberto Bartoletti en Italia, el Dr. Michel Delune en Bélgica, el Dr. Joseph Font-Riera en España y su servidor en Francia.

El objetivo de este equipo innovador de pioneros de la medicina era desarrollar la esencia y la ciencia en la medicina estética, y difundir los más altos estándares de formación y su arte, a través de un grupo selectivo de Sociedades Nacionales de Medicina Estética, integrándose sucesivamente a través de los años, representaciones de otros países.

A medida que este objetivo se ha alcanzado a lo largo de los últimos 47 años, la familia UIME ha crecido con orgullo en 32 naciones, organizando Conferencias y Congresos Médicos de élite en los continentes respectivos, junto con la creación de varias escuelas y el establecimiento de los primeros programas de Grado Universitario en Medicina Estética del mundo.

Un objetivo clave de todos los congresos de la UIME ha sido proporcionar, desarrollar y compartir conocimientos avanzados entre los médicos estéticos; al mismo tiempo ofreciendo una formación de alto nivel a médicos interesados en este campo, e incluso a estudiantes más jóvenes dentro de sus planes de estudios universitarios de medicina.

En la actualidad, las 32 Sociedades Nacionales que conforman la UIME organizan congresos nacionales con talleres, además de cursos de actualización en diferentes competencias. Por otra parte, cada dos años se organiza un “Congreso Mundial de Medicina Estética de la UIME” y cada continente organiza un congreso regional cuando no hay congreso internacional.

No hay ninguna duda de que los conceptos combinados de medicina estética y medicina antienvejecimiento, serán cada vez más importantes en la vida de nuestros pacientes.

La combinación de estas áreas seguirá creciendo y avanzando en todo el mundo y es así como veremos grandes cambios en la medicina estética, ¡Esperamos ver a la UIME desarrollando su presencia en más países en un futuro cercano!

The concept of the Union Internationale de Médecine Esthétique (UIME) was born in 1975. This now global concept was the project of four true pioneers in the Medical Aesthetics field, named: Dr. Carlo-Alberto Bartoletti in Italy, Dr. Michel Delune in Belgium, Dr. Joseph Font-Riera in Spain, and me, in France. The aim of this innovative team of medical pioneers was to help develop the science at the heart of Aesthetic Medicine, and then to spread both the art and the highest training standards, via a selective collection of National Societies of Aesthetic Medicine in a growing list of countries.

As this goal has been steadily achieved over the past 47 years, the UIME family has proudly grown within 32 nations, and has organized elite Medical Conferences and Congresses in most continents, along with creating several schools and establishing some of the world’s first full University Degree programs in Aesthetic Medicine.

A key objective of all UIME Congresses has been to provide, develop and share advanced knowledge among the most respected aesthetic medicine physicians; while concurrently bringing growth-level education to newer qualified physicians in the field, and even younger students within their medical university curricula.

Today, the 32 National Societies within UIME each organize their own national Congresses, along with workshops and proprietary training sessions. But in addition, each continent also plans a Continental Congress, and every two years an international “UIME Global Congress of Aesthetic Medicine” is scheduled.

There is no doubt that the combined concepts of Medical Aesthetics and Anti-Aging therapies shall become more and more important in the lives of our patients. So, as this exciting field of Aesthetic Medicine encompasses both fields, and continues to grow and advance everywhere, we hope to see UIME developing its presence in even more countries within the near future!
