LEAD WITH AN EDGE
BIOLOGY
The St. Mary’s College of Maryland biology department’s curriculum is designed to introduce and reinforce concepts and skills through a well-integrated set of four core courses and associated laboratories.
INCREASE YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE LIVING WORLD!
Advanced courses nearly always include STUDENT-DESIGNED RESEARCH PROJECTS, which help to prepare students for their capstone St. Mary’s Projects during the senior year. The St. Mary’s Project offers students the opportunity to pursue their own interests and gain experience designing and conducting their own research. In many cases these projects have led to STUDENTAUTHORED PUBLICATIONS. A liberal-arts education is EXCELLENT PREPARATION for a CAREER IN THE SCIENCES. The liberal-arts education is broad and exposes students to connections among the many facets of life. We believe that the liberal-arts experience is more valuable and flexible than an education focused on a specific career. Our aim is to prepare students for a successful future by building skills and perspectives that they carry with them throughout their lives.
