THE HEALTH SCIENCES ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELPING YOU PREPARE FOR A CAREER IN MEDICINE AND THE HEALTH SCIENCES
LEAD WITH AN EDGE With a 92% admittance rate (2018 data) for students applying to graduate programs in the health sciences, St. Mary’s College has a proven track record for placing students in a wide variety of healthrelated fields. While this is a reflection of our capable students and their academic preparedness, it is also the result of thorough planning and lots of mentoring. Students in their first two years with HSAC attend informational meetings, get hands-on practical experience related to their career interest, and begin collecting letters of recommendation. In their third year, students prepare personal statements for graduate program admissions, study for entrance exams, and undergo mock interviews with the HSAC to supplement their application process. Applications for medical, dental and veterinary school programs are due in June between the junior and senior year.
