Summary

In front of Kernius street, response to the church, it is suggested to set a monument of duke Traidenis, which represents Kernavė as the first capital of Lithuania. Behind the statue, planted oaks and hazelnuts symbolize strength, and terraces with flower beds emphasize the monument. The site completes the axis of Kernius street and is a site where the discovery of Kernavė begins. Near the crossroad designed square could be used as a bus stop. Therefore tourists could easily reach the city‘s main spots. In the same square, it is suggested to arrange public toilets and an interactive stand with relevant information. During the events, there could be fairs or markets. Further from the square, three recreational sites are designed. It points to the houses that once stood on Kernius street. The awning symbolizes an entrance and traditional garden plants are like the walls of the house. All three recreational sites are in a sequence and each of them is passable. A playground is planned next to the museum, where playing children would brighten up Kernius street. Alongside it is projected a universal lawn square with flower beds and benches for gatherings, rest, exhibitions, etc. A wide pathway in front of the lawn could be a place for a temporary built-in stage. It is suggested to reorganize Kernius Street into a roadway with speed limit signs and the possibility to close the traffic during the events, therefore surroundings would be easily reached by both residents and tourists.
