Dear Friend of SMHC, On November 12, 2010, Seacoast Mental Health Center (SMHC) will host the 11th Erik Cogswell Memorial Bipolar Disorder Conference at the Community Campus in Portsmouth, NH. As a friend or colleague of SMHC, it is our hope you will save this date in your calendar and join us for the only conference of its kind in northern New England. Building on last year's theme of recovery, this year's conference is titled "Circles of Support" and will help consumers, family members, and professionals identify, access, and develop circles of support within the community. Chances are that you or someone you know has been affected by bipolar disorder, so this is an illness that affects us all. About our Keynote Speaker Carol Bailey Floyd SMHC welcomes Carol Bailey Floyd, director of Programs for Mental Health Recovery and WRAPŽ (Wellness Recovery Action Plan), who was recently honored by the Ohio Department of Mental Health for her efforts as project coordinator for the University of Illinois at Chicago’s WRAP research study. At our upcoming conference, Carol will talk about how to strengthen your circles of support. Whether you identify them them clearly or not, our friends, family members, and mental health professionals all support us in various ways--even mental health professionals themselves have circles of support. In her keynote address, Carol will discuss how to become clear about whom we support, who supports us, and how everyone fits into the rhythm of our lives as well as how to better coordinate ourselves and our relationships.
