On the pages that follow, we're thrilled to present the winners of the second annual Hammy Awards, a read ers-choice contest sponsored by The Smithfield Times.

After an enormous outpouring of "Hammy Love" and votes in the inau gural Hammy Awards in 2021, we were excited to see what the turnout would be for our second year. We're happy to say our readers did not disappoint. Over 2,100 people in Isle of Wight and Surry cast 88,000 votes in some 200 cat egories, selecting their favorite people, places, things and organizations.

Though the Hammys are not a sci entific survey, they are a fun way for our readers to call out everything they love about our community and express their sentiments through online voting that took place over the summer. Once

the voting round closed the top three nominees with the most votes became winners and finalists in each category. You'll disagree with some of the results, you'll be surprised by some and find yourself nodding in agreement on many.

The best way to show your favor ite business your support, of course, is to continue giving them your busi ness. After that, you can recommend your friends give them a shot, too.

Meanwhile, we invite you to have a little fun while learning the winners of the second annual Hammy Awards.

We hope that the awards will inspire you to get out and visit a favorite busi ness of yours or take the time to try out a new business you've seen listed here.
