MOTHERLOAD OPENS JULY 19 IN PERSON: filmmaker, LIZ CANNING - JULY 21 Marin-based filmmaker Liz Canning cycled everywhere until she had twins in 2008. Hauling babies took the adventure out of life, and Canning felt trapped. She Googled “family bike” and uncovered a global movement of people replacing cars with cargo bikes. Setting out to learn more, she chronicled the early inventors, the people making the bold lifestyle changes, as well as her own journey - and the film Motherload was born. FOR ALL MANKIND & A TRIP TO THE MOON SATURDAY, JULY 20, 2:00, 6:30 Join us as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing with two space-y programs designed to launch you out of this world: In 1902, George Méliès was inventing modern-day special effects, beautifully showcased on the big screen in the classic short A Trip to the Moon (France 1902) 13 min. For All Mankind provides a powerful testament to NASA’s 1960’s & 70’s Apollo program, while offering the unique viewpoint of the individuals who braved the remarkable journey to the moon and back. SEA OF SHADOWS OPENS JULY 26 Featuring everything from Mexican drug cartels to the Chinese Mafia, this eco-thriller is a gripping and nail-biting adventure with real world consequences for the imperiled vaquita, the world’s smallest whale, and local fisherman in the Sea of Cortez.
