FUEL SUBSTITUTION PILOT PROGRAM The Efficiency Nova Scotia’s Fuel Substitution Pilot Program offers incentives to homeowners who purchase advanced solid-fuel burning appliances to replace an existing electric-heating system. Appliances purchased must meet certain requirements. Those requirements can be summarized as follows: APPLIANCE TYPE Freestanding wood stove Wood fireplace insert Zero-clearance wood fireplace Freestanding pellet stove Wood furnace Pellet furnace

Program deadline: The program deadline is September 30th, 2011. You need a pre-approval before you buy and install your new appliance. Other conditions apply, such as the need to have the installation performed or inspected by a WETT certified professional.
