~SEASON OF EPIPHANY ~
In a cynical and despairing world, O God, give us a quietly prophetic voice to proclaim Your hope.
In a violent and angry world, O God, give us a quietly prophetic voice to proclaim Your peace.
In a dismissive and disinterested world, O God, give us a quietly prophetic voice to proclaim Your compassion.
In a lonely and inhospitable world, O God, give us a quietly prophetic voice to proclaim Your voice.
In a grieving and weeping world, O God, give us a quietly prophetic voice to proclaim Your joy.
May we be so captivated by your hope, O God, that we cannot help but to whisper, to sing, and to enact, the message of Your reign which is always coming into our world; And may our quietly prophetic lives, be channels of Your restoring grace wherever we may go.
Amen.

OPENING LITANY
Rev. Rebecca Caswell-Speight Minister of Families and Faith Formation
We come in joy to celebrate and worship God in the beauty of this sacred place where countless people have known God’s presence.
We give thanks for the sense of awed reverence we experience as we have come together to share in our praise of God.
We come in expectation to celebrate and worship God in the beauty of this sacred place where we can experience God’s Shalom.
We give thanks for the freedom and peace we experience as we come together to share in our praise of God.
We come in trust to celebrate and worship God in the beauty of this sacred place because here we are challenged to faithfulness.
We give thanks for the God who understands and love s us, and who calms our fears, sees our tears and hears our songs of praise. We joyfully come together to share in our praise of God. Amen.

CHORAL MUSIC The Beauty of This Sacred Place Text, Marilyn Biery Music, James Biery
The beauty of this sacred place inspires our hearts and minds to grow. We sing with love, bestowed by grace; from God all richest blessings flow. The meal, the word, the art, the song, are but a glimmer of the whole; with joyful hearts sing all day long . God’s blessings satisfy the soul.
We look into each person’s eyes and see such longing hunger there. Respond with love to others’ cries; our neighbor’s burdens gladly bear. So many struggle and despair, we hear their silent voices plead; our actions show how much we care, extending help to those in need.

Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.

PIANO OFFERTORY It Is Well with My Soul
Rev. Bart McNiel Associate Pastor
Arr. Cindy Berry
(In the setting of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No.14)
21Then he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” 22All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?” 23He said to them,
“Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘Doctor, cure yourself!’ And you will say, ‘Do here also in your hometown the things that we have heard you did at Capernaum.’” 24And he said, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in the prophet’s hometown. 25But the truth is, there were many widows in Israel in the time of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a severe famine over all the land; 26yet Elijah was sent to none of them except to a widow at Zarephath in Sidon. 27There were also many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.” 28When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with rage. 29They got up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they might hurl him off the cliff. 30But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way.
For the word of God in scripture, for the word of God among us, for the word of God within us, Thanks be to God!

Lord, When our hearts are weary and we feel we have nothing left to give, remind us that we can treat others with justice and mercy. Help us remember to walk faithfully with you, regardless of our circumstances. Remind us that you care for us—that you have always cared for us, even when it’s been hard for us to see. Dwell with us, we are so in need of you. Amen.
