50th Anniversary Presentation of the Musical

Celebrate Life! Lyrics by Ragan Courtney and Music by Buryl Red Smoke Rise Baptist Church · Palm Sunday, April 10, 2022 · 7:00 PM

After This He Went Journeying (response) I Quietly Turned to You Peggy Ray, soloist

(Peggy first sang Celebrate Life in 1975 in the youth choir at Brookhaven Baptist Church.)

After This He Went Journeying (response) The Lord’s Prayer Organ Prelude (Where else but in the genius writing of Buryl Red would you find an organ prelude and postlude written for a youth musical in 1972?)

Prepare the Way of the Lord

Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.

In Remembrance of Me

The Truth Shall Make You Free Hail, O Blessed One Paul Durden, narrator

Song of Mary

Becky Mueller, soloist (Becky first sang the part of Mary in 1972 when she was 16-years-old, in her youth choir at Lakeside Baptist Church.)

There Is a Great Joy Coming Hello, Baby We Three Kings The congregation is invited to stand and sing.

We three kings of Orient are bearing gifts we traverse afar, field and fountain, moor and mountain, following yonder star. O, star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to thy perfect Light.

(The congregation is invited to sing along. The music may be found in the hymnal, No 462.)

Observance of the Lord’s Supper Dr. Chris George (Pastor Chris was less than four-years-old when Celebrate Life debuted.)

Carry Him Gently Becky Mueller, soloist

He Is Alive Christ the Lord is Risen Today

The congregation is invited to stand and sing.

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia! Death in vain forbid him rise, Alleluia! Christ hath opened Paradise, Alleluia!

Prayer for Peace Organ Postlude
