Brief History: Founded in 1923 and headquartered in Seattle, Safeco Insurance is the number three carrier in the independent agency channel. In 2008, Safeco became part of Liberty Mutual Insurance. The financial strength of our parent company, combined with a national network of more than 10,000 local independent agents, has enabled Safeco to focus exclusively on personal insurance. We continue to offer the comprehensive mix of coverage, pricing, and personalized service to individuals and families that’s kept us in business for over 90 years, and we’re looking forward with confidence to the future.

Insurance Type: Property & Casualty – Personal Lines.

Lines of Business: Safeco’s products span home, auto, umbrella, condo, renters, landlord protector, motor home, motorcycle, watercraft, classic car, home warranty, and pet insurance.

States Available: Safeco writes business in all 50 states.

Office Philosophy: Safeco is entirely dependent on the success of independent agents. When you win, we win, so Safeco recognizes our key partners who choose us more often with benefits that go far beyond a commission on each policy.

Description of Appetite: Safeco allows agents great latitude and authority in quoting a variety of different types of risks, usually without needing to obtain underwriting pre-approval. Given this latitude, the company expects agents to place customers who have the potential to enter into a responsible longterm relationship with their agencies and with Safeco. Any customer can have an occasional mishap (that’s what insurance is for), but both your agency and Safeco want to enter into a relationship with someone who is responsible, takes care of themselves and their family, and pays their bills on time. While issuing monoline policies serve many needs, you can greatly enhance customer satisfaction and retention, and

your own profitability, by combining all their needs together – auto, home, umbrella, and coverage for their “toys” such as a motorcycle or boat. Our Quote & Issue™ is a great pricing platform for a multitude of situations, but Safeco does ask agents to perform front line underwriting and to place responsible customers with us.

Key Differentiators: In a rapidly evolving marketplace, it’s important to do business with a carrier that has built the scale and resources to invest in capabilities and partnerships for years to come. Safeco is a market leader today – and positioned to build and nurture deep partnerships with enduring value. A partner for the Future—Safeco is committed to enabling the independent agents of today to go confidently and become

Message to Members: Independent Agents have a competitive advantage: ease, choice, and advice. Safeco believes in the independent agents’ ability to win with these “super powers” and we will do more than any other carrier to fuel your strengths..

Brief History: A commercial insurance plan located in Albuquerque offering comprehensive health plan services state-wide, True Health New Mexico had its origins in the Affordable Care Act as a consumer oriented and operated health plan. That means we put our members first, always. That also means we were built by New Mexicans, for New Mexicans. We leverage technology and advanced analytics to drive member care so that our benefit plans, programs, and services are all orient towards helping our members reach their best state of health while reducing the occurrence of unnecessary, high-cost care such as emergency room visits and hospitalizations..

Key Differentiators: At True Health New Mexico, our number-one goal is to improve our members’ health while lowering their healthcare costs. • We believe that lower member copayments improve necessary member access to low-cost care and prevent unnecessary care in highcost venues, such as emergency rooms, which ultimately reduces the cost of health insurance for all. • In addition, low- and zero-cost essential medications help our members reduce lapses in prescription fills and stay on the prescriptions that help them manage their chronic conditions. At True Health New Mexico, we employ a high-touch, personal approach to care coordination and help our members access primary care, specialty care, behavioral healthcare, and other needed services. This in turn helps members avoid acute, emergency, and more costly episodes. We bring together the experience of our clinicians, technology, and customer service to focus on “well-care,” not “sick-care.” As a physicianled health plan, our top priority is connecting our members to the care they need to help them be healthier. Our medical management team has extensive experience in both the clinical and the insurance areas of the healthcare system.
