We should Protect Nature Tourism is to discover nature. The start of tourism movements is the travel act to discover the beauties of this planet. Listen music of waves in Portofino, enjoy a romantic sunset on your honeymoon in Maui Island, watching the beauties of Bosphorus scene while tasting unique Turkish food, increase your adrenaline by climbing top of the Himalayas, discover nature architecture of Cappadocia with a balloon ride, underwater beauties of Maldives, dance of water at Niagara or Igassu, scenic view of rocks at Copper or Grand Canyon......
20 Exhibitions ATM-Dubai
To discover many natural beauties in this planet is tourism. However increasing population and consumption change the balance of nature. When destruction of nature by humans is added, the response of nature to that becomes harsher. Eruption of volcanoes that affect continents, climate changes caused by hole in the ozone layer, the floods destroying countries, flooding, or the opposite running out of water at rivers, lakes ... Tourism is not only the peace between humans; tourism is also the peace with nature! Wish you sunny & green holidays.

43 million tourists to Turkey
The number of tourists to Turkey is expected to rise to a record high of 43 million this year, with a moderate increase in tourism income also projected, according to Başaran Ulusoy, the chairman of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB). “We are walking straight to our target of 43 million tourists and $36 billion income,” Ulusoy told Anadolu Agency in a recent interview in Çorum. The tourist income figure exceeded $34 million last year,
according to figures by TÜRSAB, and although it predicts a rise in the number of tourists this year it also foresees a fall in income per tourist. However, figures estimated by sector bodies the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) and the Tourism Ministry conflicted with this estimate. TÜRSAB is anticipating a large influx of tourists to the western province of Çanakkale next year, the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli. In particular, Australians and New Zealanders pay respects on the anniversaries ever year to commemorate the tens of thousands of losses at the site during World War I. TÜRSAB Chairman Ulusoy said his organization was focusing on promoting Turkey for domestic tourists along with foreign visitors, vowing to focus on the less popular non-coastal areas in the country. “There is life on Anatolian soil,” he said, underscoring the presence of different attraction points.

According to the report, southeastern holiday town Bodrum and the southern province of Antalya that accommodates scores of shores will remain the favorite destinations for Turks who want to take a little time off. The report predicts the share of local tourists in hotels will rise up to 40 percent in Bordum, while it will remain at around 15 percent in Antalya resorts. Despite a decline foreseen in foreign tourists, the number of tourists to Turkey, which was 39 million in 2013, is expected to rise to a record high of 43 million this year, with a moderate increase in tourism income also projected. Istanbul strengthen its position in Top 10 of ICCA Rankings
Istanbul has been ranked 8th in the Top 10 of ICCA Rankings, according to the 2013 data. ICCA, the International Congress and Convention Association, announced 2013 Rankings for cities and countries. Istanbul uplifted its position in the Top 10 of rankings. According to the data released by ICCA, Istanbul has been ranked 8th with 146 congresses in 2013. Turkey has been ranked 18th with 221 congresses and has taken place in Top 20 for the first time and 10th in Europe. This result points to a 14 % rise comparing to 2012 in which 128 events were held. If congresses with more than 300 and 500 guests are taken into account, Istanbul ranked 1st leaving capitals like Paris, Berlin and London behind. Istanbul hosted 80 important congresses in 2013 with more than 300 guests while Paris hosted 73, Singapore 70, Berlin 64 and London 63. Moreover, Istanbul hosted 49 events with delegates above 500. Singapore hosted 44, Paris 41 and Berlin 37 in 2013. ICVB General Manager Elif Balcı Fisunoğlu said, “According to the results on 2013 results, Istanbul ranked at 8th place of the world’s most popular congress destination. Istanbul, which was listed in the Top 10 for the third consecutive year, strengthens its position in the Top 10 at world meetings industry. Istanbul has 18 more congresses compare to 2012 by hosting 146 congresses and
conventions in 2013.” “Istanbul, which is ambitious for hosting congresses over 300 and 500 delegates, has been ranked as the world’s most popular city to host large-scale conferences in 2011 and 2012” added Mrs. Fisunoğlu. ICCA CEO Martin Sirk commented: “Once more our members and researchers have identified that the international association sector has been growing strongly over the last year, as has been the case throughout the last few years of global economic uncertainty. Why is this so?” “Firstly, almost all international associations have a statutory duty to meet on a regular basis, and their annual or biannual main congresses have become increasingly “mission critical” for their communities of members and stakeholders.” “Secondly, economic strength in certain regions of the world is stimulating growth in regionally rotating association meetings, particularly in Asia and Latin America, but we now also see this trend starting to emerge in regions such as Africa and Middle East.” “And thirdly, association congresses are to a large extent driven by scientific, healthcare and technological advances, and we are continuing to live in an era where the accelerated expansion of discovery and innovation is at an unprecedented level, creating entirely new associations and events to share insight into and develop new business from this new knowledge.”
Germans ranked first for tourists visiting the city of Istanbul, according to Istanbul’s provincial culture and tourism directorate. Germans have become accustomed to Turkish culture due to the presence of more than three million Turks since the labor force agreement signed in the 60s. Germans are ranked first for the number of tourists visiting Istanbul in the last three months with around 350,000 citizens, followed by approximately 260,000 Russians and around 213,000 Iranians. Germans made up 9.1 percent of the tourists visiting Istanbul in January 2014, while Russia stood at 6.1 percent and Iran 5.2 percent. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute’s report for the first quarter of 2014, tourism revenue reached $4.8 billion across Turkey, an increase by 3.4 percent compared to same period of 2013, with 76.2 percent of tourism revenue coming from foreign tourists. Foreign tourists spent an average of $877 during the first three months of 2014. Basaran Ulusoy, Head of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, told the AA that tourism revenue in the first quarter of 2014 was good but insufficient, adding they expected around 39 million tourists to visit Turkey in 2014.
Ulusoy added, “Tourism is Turkey’s future. Istanbul is globally attractive. If political stability exists, economic stability also appears. Turkey is seeing the benefits of a stable economy.” Turkey hosts more than 800,000 Syrian refugees, most of whom have fled Syria due to the civil war raging since 2011, and still receives Syrian tourists to Istanbul but their numbers have fallen severely. The number of Syrians visiting Istanbul decreased from 2.2 percent to 2.0 percent between January and March. The number of Ukrainian tourists coming to Istanbul also fell during the past three months to 3 percent. In February, protests erupted in Ukraine following the ouster of former President Viktor Yanukovych, after he opted to ditch a trade deal with the EU in favor of closer ties with Russia in November 2013. Ulusoy stressed that tourism in Turkey has been affected by the Syrian civil war, saying he hoped the civil war would end soon. The number of tourists from countries suffering domestic political tension was very low during the first three months of 2014.

Roman temple’s remains found at Black Sea province
The remains of a Roman temple have been discovered during drilling for the construction of a school in the northern province of Bartın’s Amasra district. The construction process has been stopped and the school will now be constructed elsewhere. Archaeological excavations will soon start over an area of 3,000 square meters in order to reveal the ancient settlement. Amasra Museum Director Baran Aydın said a column heading, pedestals and the marble ground of the temple had been uncovered. “We estimate that that temple dates back to the Roman era. You can find works from the Roman and Byzantine eras everywhere in Amasra. During one-month-long preliminary works, we found data that may be very important for the district. The first findings show that the temple collapsed during an earthquake. Further works might reveal the ancient city under the district,” Aydın said.

Instagram photographers focus on Turkey
A unique social media project called #ComeSeeTurkey was launched Wednesday in Istanbul, aiming to promote Turkey’s history, culture, and people on the Instagram social media platform, via images shot by 20 photographers who between them command millions of online followers. Although focused on Instagram, the project – estimated by one organiser to cost around 800,000 Turkish liras – will also use Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, rather than traditional advertisement channels, to showcase Turkey. Twenty Instagram users from different parts of the world with high numbers of followers or who enjoy great popularity, have been invited to Turkey for the two-stage project that will last 24 days and take place on two separate journey routes, covering a total distance of 7,000 km. In two groups, these photographers along with a #ComeSeeTurkey team will tour Turkey’s 24 cities and shoot photos in the places they visit, and then share their photos with the world on their Instagram accounts, as well as the social media accounts created for the campaign.
Popular Instagram photographers from 13 different countries will try to depict Turkey’s rich culture and beauty from their own point of view as Instagram photographers from all around the world. One of the ‘Instagramers’, Christoffer Collin, a 30 year-old from Sweden with almost 600,000 followers, said he was excited to discover places in Turkey that would be normally unusual to travel and to reveal the beauty there via socail media. The only Turkish photographer in the group, Sezgin Yilmaz, told an AA reporter that Turkey had a lot material to work on in artistic sense which will be uncovered during the tour. First-time visitor to Turkey, Putri Anindya, a 22 yearold journalism student from Indonesia, said she started photography just for fun but was now getting serious as the power of social media brought her to Turkey for her first promotion project. In the first phase of the project, ten of these Instagram users will start their tour in Istanbul’s Dolmabahce Palace on April 16. They will also travel from Turkey’s north eastwards, visiting the cities of Trabzon, Artvin, Ardahan, Kars, Agri, Van, Mardin and Gaziantep, while the other ten photographers will visit central and western cities and places including Kayseri, Capadoccia (Nevsehir), Konya, Antalya, Aydin, Pamukkale, Dalyan, Bodrum, Izmir and Gallipoli in the second stage. A special team from Turkey’s state broadcaster TRT will accompany the photographers, shooting a documentary to be broadcast at the end of the project. The #ComeSeeTurkey project has its own website and Instagram account, which aims to attract a total of 26 million users. Started under the auspices of the Turkish Presidency, the project’s main sponsor is the Turkish Union of Chambers and Exchange Commodities, and co-sponsored by Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Turkish Airlines and the Turkish Photojournalists’ Association.
Istanbul Modern celebrates its 10th year with “Rainbow” Istanbul Modern, the first private museum of modern art in Turkey hosts modern and contemporary art exhibitions, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its foundation in 2014. Istanbul Modern ushered in the New Year with Sarkis’ work entitled “Rainbow”. Starting on the night of December 31, 2013, Sarkis’ installation “Rainbow” continuously illuminates Istanbul Modern’s front façade with its dazzling colors. Since the day it opened, Istanbul Modern has hosted different branches of the arts and has received over 5 million visitors. For its 10th anniversary events, by organizing various contemporary, creative, and lasting programs which foster active participation, the museum will continue to be a versatile platform for communication where everyday life meets art. The first of a series of events that will take place throughout the year, the installation “Rainbow” was produced in neon and measures 7.5 meters in height and 15 meters in width. Showing a rainbow in the process of forming, the installation “Rainbow” will illuminate art and museum visitors for 365 days. “Rainbow” reminds us of the states of becoming of art as a never-ending

field of thought and action. It symbolizes the endless rhythm, excitement, and joys of life. Sarkis defines his installation as a “rainbow gaining momentum toward the Big Bang” and adds: “Rainbow should be regarded as a miracle. Art is always about new beginnings; there are references, but in the process of creating, all of these references disappear, giving way to fresh ideas.” Chief Curator of Istanbul Modern Levent Çalıkoğlu stresses that Sarkis identifies the work of art with the rainbow’s process of coming into being. About the installation “Rainbow,” Çalıkoğlu says: “In his works, Sarkis treats of the concepts of memory, cross-cultural interactions, and history; his work “Rainbow” makes reference to the state of becoming of a natural phenomenon which visually impresses people. Sarkis constructs a parallel relationship between a miracle of nature and the excitement and uncertainties felt at the moment an artistic idea is born. How is an idea born, how does it develop, and what does it result in? Sarkis identifies the work of art with the rainbow’s process of coming into being. For us, this project, realized as we enter our 10th year, also refers to the different disciplines of art we host in our museum.” Within the scope of the project, a documentary was produced showing the making-of and production technique of the installation “Rainbow”. Istanbul Modern also invites visitors to take photos under the “Rainbow” and share them on social media channels with the hashtag #undertherainbow. Photos shared by visitors and sent to Istanbul Modern will be gathered in a special album on Facebook.

Antalya hosted 3rd stage in World Archery Cup
Turkey’s Mediterranean city of Antalya hosted the third World Archery Cup stage which took place 10 – 15 June 2014. Turkey has hosted an Archery World Cup stage in Antalya since first edition in 2006 – and in 2013, the World Archery Championships were held in Belek. Long-time supporter of the Archery World Cup and other international archery events, Turkish Airlines has renewed its partnership deal with World Archery until the end of the 2015 season. Turkish Airlines became the official airline of World Archery with the launch of the Archery World Cup in 2006. It has supported the growth of the World Cup circuit and archery’s evolution into one of the core Olympic sports. The organisation will retain its airline sector exclusivity for the duration of the extension. Included in the extension is the 12kg additional luggage allowance certificate for archery equipment. Available to all athletes, staff and official travelling to World Archery events, the new certificate can be found on the World Archery website and should be presented upon check-in. Over the last eight years, Turkish Airlines – the global network carrier – has seen the value of its association with World Archery consistently increase as the sport gains wider
exposure. Archery is now regularly broadcast on television channels around the world, offers one of the best live event experiences on the Olympic programme and receives significant international press coverage. World Archery President Prof. Dr. Ugur ERDENER said: “We are extremely thankful to Turkish Airlines for its continued support of not only our federation but our athletes, officials and staff that travel worldwide to events. Turkish Airlines is the best airline in Europe – and an airline that cares about its passengers and excellence, in aviation and in sport.”
New historical sites in İzmir İzmir is expected to host more local and foreign tourists this year due to the opening of historical sites in the province. Works on the ancient sites are being accelerated in order to finish them for the summer season. Officials belive the number of visitors will increase to a great extent this year. İzmir’s six ancient sites, where excavations are still being conducted, will open to visitors soon. İzmir is currently one of the centers of intense archaeological works in the country, with 22 excavations currently taking place. Works on these ancient sites have been accelerated recently in order to be ready in time for the upcoming tourist season during the summer months. The Director of Provincial Culture and Tourism Abdülaziz Ediz said there was a noticeable increase in the number of local tourists at the ancient sites and museums. He said the number of foreign tourists began to increase with a rise in cruise tourism. “With a history of 8,500 years, İzmir is an area where settlements have existed since the prehistoric age. It has hosted an array of cultures from various regions. There are 22 ongoing excavations, 15 are carried out by a Turkish team, three by foreign teams and four by museum directorates. We have accelerated work to open these excavation areas to visitors as soon as possible. The ancient city of Metropolis in Torbalı will be open to visitors from the beginning of the season. The ancient site of Teos in Seferihisar will be finished toward the end of the season. Visits to the ancient prophecy center of Claros in the district of Özdere and Urla’s ancient city of Klazomenai will begin this year, too. The Ayasuluk Fortress, which is the most visited place after the ancient city of Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary in Selçuk, will be open to visitors – with some restrictions – this season,” Ediz said. be aware that there were no tourist guides or specialist facilities to meet their needs. “This is why tour operators did not include these locations in their programs.” He said they believed the number of visitors to museums and ancient sites would increase to a great extent in 2014. “Companies that come to İzmir for meetings have started to dedicate one day of their programs [in visiting] ancient sites.

This also caused an increase in cultural tourism among local tourists. Students also have a significant interest in visiting museums and ancient sites. We are working to increase our outreach to students by supporting projects that educate young people about these ancient sites,” Ediz added. Annually, approximately 3 million people visit 16 museums and ancient sites in İzmir. The Ephesus ancient city has the highest number of visitors. This is followed by St. Jean Church in Selçuk, Acropolis in Bergama, Terrace Houses in Ephesus, and the ancient city of Asklepieion in Bergama. The Prehistoric Life Museum, which is under construction in Yeşilova Mound by the Bornova Municipality, will open in July. The facility will be the sixth archaeological center that will open to visitors this season. According to officials, it will be the one and only in Turkey. Associate Professor Zafer Derin, Yeşilova’s Mound deputy head of excavations, said the ancient city, scientific laboratories and the Neolithic village complex had been designed all together, so that visitors would be able to experience social life in the prehistoric age. Besides Yeşilova Mound, the most important prophecy center of the ancient ages, Claros, will open to visits this year, too. Although it is not an ancient city, the prophecy center also draws many visitors. Metropolis and Teos are also expected to draw many visitors this year as well.

Istanbul Modern Photography Gallery presents photographs of Turkey’s recent history
In the exhibition “On the Road”, a compilation from the archive of Nar Photos between 2003-2013, Istanbul Modern Photography Gallery presents a panorama of events and situations which took place in Turkey’s recent history or whose effects are still felt today. Throughout the course of an unpredictable journey, “On the Road” keeps record of stories which have been left in the shadows. Curated by Sena Çakırkaya, the exhibition will be on view between May 28-November 9, 2014. Nar Photos is an independent collective which, since 2003, has been bringing together the diverse viewpoints in Turkey through their egalitarian, democratic approach and their stance for freedom. Using photography as a visual tool to understand and express the world, the agency chooses to question rather than accept facts as they are presented. By exposing the different situations in life, they create a collective memory of the recent past as well as a broad area for discussion. Eliminating the borders between art photography and photojournalism, Nar Photos powerfully merges aesthetics and content through their feature stories and the impressive images they capture in their photographs. Through the feature stories and news photography by the agency, the exhibition touches upon major events that have happened in Turkey while also objectively reflecting authentic snapshots from around the country. The exhibition’s curator Sena Çakırkaya notes that “the photographs do not show facts as they are presented to us; rather, they display steps of a journey toward questioning the things that are accepted as facts. This visual archive does not look from without; with its sincere approach, it intervenes, rather than standing by as a mere witness. It invites us to confront and reckon with our times. The photographers in the collective take on an active role that triggers change by creating a social consciousness. Having an autonomous structure, the collective provides a stage for issues which are not shown or sufficiently spoken of to be represented.” The exhibition features 75 photographs that deal with various subjects: the city and urban transformation, public transportation, the Inönü Stadium, Gezi Park, immigrants, and night life; celebrations such as circumcisions, henna nights, Newroz, and the Kafkasör Festival in Artvin; panoramas of diverse geographies such as Kars, Ardahan, and Ararat; Armenians, Kurds, Greeks, Assyrians and their ceremonies; seasonal workers, denim sandblasters, paper scavengers, and strikes; the street with its LGBTQI and International Women’s Day marches. In addition to these photographs, the exhibition also features 6 videos produced collectively: Auction, Kalanda, Inönü Stadium, Lübbey, Akhuryan Station, and the North Istanbul.

The exhibition “On the Road” features photographs by 20 artists:Adnan Onur Acar, Ahmet Şık, Aylin Kızıl, Barış Sever, Eren Aytuğ, Erhan Arık, Fatma Çelik, Fırat Aygün, Gençer Yurttaş, Gülşin Ketenci, Hüsamettin Bahçe, Kerem Uzel, Lezgin Kani, Mehmet Kaçmaz, Özcan Yurdalan, Ruben Mangasaryan, Saner Şen, Serpil Polat, Serra Akcan and Tolga Sezgin. Aiming to expose living conditions in people’s lives, Nar Photos’ member artists believe that the function of images comes before their plastic or aesthetic value. Members of Nar Photos prefer to produce photographic interviews which have the potential to promote change. Stating that each of their photographs has a different story, they explain how they made the selection for On the Road as follows: “Rather than asking “what is happening in Turkey?” we preferred to ask ourselves the questions “What was it that we saw? What was of value and importance to us? What were the events and facts that had an impact on Turkey’s social and political life?” First of all, we are not people who are interested in photography per se. Rather than photography’s mechanical, aesthetic, or formal aspects, we are interested in its function, in the fact that it is a tool. The second and more important part is the question of what our photographs will change in both our and other’s lives. Our premise is that every photograph is taken for other people. When you show someone a picture, you want to effect a change in that person. We know we can’t change the world through photography, but we do question whether we could, at least, create some shift in opinions, make up for missing information, and whether we could make ourselves, and also the viewers, take a more critical look at the subjects we deal with, a look that is more concerned with the world; and a more critical look at ourselves as well. This actually has more to do with the way we relate to life than with photography itself.” Mostly focusing on topics in Turkey which remain invisible or are left in the shadows, Nar Photos is interested in what is really happening and tries to filter these out by attempting to show reality without distorting it in the images they capture. One thing to which they attach as much importance as the shooting process is how to select the photographs and what long sentence these will form once they are put together: “What we do may not be of any value today, but we do realize that we have to accumulate, to be aware of the times, and to look at those times not from today’s perspective but by projecting them forward and looking at them from that point; and we can feel that we are gradually gaining this ability. We believe that all that we go through during this process will acquire a different significance in the future and will serve as real data for the next generation and the one after that.”

Check in: İstanbul Atatürk Havaalanına vardığımızda Mahan Air’in checkin bankoları açılmıştı ve Business Class bankosundan 5 dakikada İstanbul-Tahran uçuş kartlarımızı aldık.

Lounge:
İstanbul’da kısa sürede biten Check in işlemlerimizin ardından Mahan Air’in anlaşmalı lounge servisi Millennium Lounge’a geçtik.

Not: ?

Orenburg Airlines launched direct flights to Izmir Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport welcomed the first flight of Orenburg Airlines from St. Petersburg, Russia as part of Versa Travel’s 2014 summer season operations. Orenair B737-800TAV Izmir General Manager Erkan Balcı said “Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is striving to fulfill its role that it has undertaken as the gateway to Izmir and the region. Today, when Izmir and its surroundings are analyzed, we see that the majority of the tourists make their first entry to the country and the city via air transport. We also see an increasing demand from Russia to Izmir especially during the past few years. In parallel to this, we have now another flight added to those to Izmir as part of the increasing operations of the travel agencies for the recent years. We wish all the best for the direct flights that Versa Travel launched between St. Petersburg and Adnan Menderes Airports. We also thank Versa Travel for their confidence and faith in Izmir.” Versa Travel General Manager Vladimir Dorofeyev stated “We are trying to accommodate the demand we receive from our customers living around St. Petersburg with the charter flights that we launched in 2011 and increased to twice a week this year. Our Izmir flights are becoming very popular with the support we receive from the local hotels and our agencies. In addition, the
friendly hospitality and modern facilities at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, one of the highest quality airports operated by TAV, play a significant role in this operation. In this context, the positive feedback we get from our customers in terms of service quality they receive in Izmir and Turkey is an indication of the right decision we made about flying to Izmir.” Orenburg Airlines’ direct flights between St. Petersburg and Izmir will be facilitated on Sundays and Thursdays until the 23rd of October. There are flights to 86 destinations in 36 countries through 55 airlines at the international terminal and to 22 destinations with 6 airlines at the domestic terminal of Izmir. Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport provided service to almost 10.2 million passengers in 2013, with an increase of 9 per cent compared to the previous year.

Record Growth of Wellness Travel Market in Middle East / Africa
While the Middle East and Africa is currently the smallest global wellness travel market, it is potentially the fastest growing market, according to a research which is released at Global Wellness Tourism Congress. Currently growth in the Middle East/North Africa region is 16.2% annually, according to the research undertaken by SRI
International for GWTC, with the sector expected to be valued at US$16.6bn by 2017. Other figures suggest the UAE will demonstrate the fastest growth of any country in the Middle East/Africa region at 17.9% – giving it a ranking of sixth worldwide. The global wellness tourism market is estimated at $439bn, and rising at approximately 50 per cent faster than the tourism sector overall, according to the GWTC. Presenting the findings at ATM, Anni Hood, tourism and government liaison for GWTC said wellness-focused travel was growing fast across the region: “We have a luxury/spa hotel building boom across the GCC nations and the revitalization of indigenous practices such as hammam and baths – while Africa is tourism’s next frontier with the rise of healthy adventure safari tourism, continued growth of spa/wellness resorts and emerging destinations.” Among other findings in the report: the Middle East/North African region drives 4.8 wellness-focused trips annually, both inbound and domestic; the UAE generates 800,000 trips related to the sector with an expenditure of $1.4bn, with a similar number of trips in Morocco and Egypt.

F INTERVIEW NF: Also new trends in hospitality sector, economical crisis in Europe and affects in Turkish tourism? In the last 2 years in European tourism sector due to the economical throttle, package prices fell down in popular destinations like Greece and Spain. Of course in preliminary it effected the sales in Turkey negatively. However economical crisis in Europe caused social conflicts, rebliane against government. In addition to this, it caused serious service and personnel losts which occurred annulment of the reservations and so it caused the German and Scandinavian costumers to prefer Turkey predominantly. Another important point that I want to mention is that the Iranian and Israel markets are in a serious escalation in this sector.
Hospitality Industry Trends in Alanya, Turkey
NF: Could you please tell us Goldcity Hotel? Why guests prefer your hotels, your important markets? What’s new in the hotels… etc?
We have been adopting a condominium system in Goldcity consisting property and hotel management. By this system Coordinator of Aydoğan A.Ş.; Gülçin Güner shared her thoughts property owners can use all facilities which they can find in a with New Focus Travel Magazine (NF) about hospitality luxury 5 star hotel. On the other side they can lease and invest industry in Alanya and in Turkey as well. their unites. We reached the right scale in service, quality and parity in Goldcity. With the interactive sales policy in our NF: Could you please introduce your background in price Hotel we want our guests to live our Hotel and make them Tourism and Hotel industry? happy during their destination time. According to our Hotel management logic we use our onset on repeat guests and I’ m involved in tourism industry since 26 years and started in variety on market. Goldcity, with its own grandeur peculiar, let Banana Hotel which was known as the head location of Alanya the guest live the variation with min. 101 sqm family suites, hospitality. Afterwards, I made the openings and management aquapark with 20 slites, Cable Park which is only 5 in the whole of Ananas and Obaköy Hotels. While Obaköy Hotel’s success Turkey, amazing sightview, abundantly pool choices, 3500 sqm was getting higher at least it was transferred to Taksim Hotel. Spa Wellness area, professional fitness room with professional training instructors (in different sections). The most important So I gave up my duty there and established my own hotel markets that we can list are Scandinavian, Russian, UK, management and consultancy private firm. In this sector I continued as a management partnership for 3 hotels between Holland-Belgium, Germany, Turkey and also Iran. Goldcity has 111,714 sqm sport complex including 2 UEFA 1996-2004. I entered to ALTID (Alanya Hoteliers Association) standard football fields, 6 tennis courts, volleyball and as a board member in 1999 and continued my mission as basketball courts. Through our sport complex facilities, we have a president 6 years long. Then I passed my administrative been cooperating sport agencies for football camps especially during the winter season. Starting from 15th of December function to my colleague. As a basis of volunteerism I believe that this is the right behaviour approach in the vocational civil till end of march at least 30 football teams accommodate in our Hotel. By the way MICE is also very important part of our organization for democracy. Currently I’ve been working as Hotel. We have totally 3 meeting rooms in different capacities. a coordinator for Aydoğan A.Ş. since 2005 (Goldcity, Sentido Goldcity is pretty popular for wedding celebrations, congresses Gold Island, Sentido Golden Bay). Additionally, I’ m doing the and meetings together with its professional conference hall management of my own company and also I’m a member of and function room. Regarding the golf course we are awaiting POYD, Alanya Skal and TUROFED (Turkey Hoteliers Federation) a process from the tourism ministry. Furthermore the short distance from GZP (Gazipaşa) Airport to Goldcity Hotel (only 20 council. min.) is a great opportunity for investment and our company.
NF: What is your thought about the future of Hotel industry in Turkey and Alanya, as a past President NF: Whats is the percentage of bookings via internet for your hotels comparing to the of Alanya Hotels Association? traditional distribution channels? Of course the trends/sales channels and marketing models and also customer expectations change with the time; but the variety of mentality is important in this sector. We all know that Tourism improves in the whole world and also in Turkey. So we should focus on tourism derived income and profit. Hereby government should compose, stimulate and support the tourism policy. Nowadays education and qualified personnel are the most important topics in Hotel industry.

F CRUISE
Cruise Industry in Europe

F CRUISE
The cruise industry continues to play its part in helping Europe’s economy emerge from the economic downturn bydelivering another strong year of growth in 2013. Figures released today by CLIA Europe have revealed that the cruise industry’s economic output in Europe reached 39.4 billion euros in 2013, an all-time high, up from 37.9 billion euros in 2012.The direct expenditures generated by the industry reached 16.2 billion euros, up from 15.5 billion euros in 2012. In terms of employment generation, in 2013 the cruise industry accounted for 339,417 jobsamounting to 10.5 billion euros in employee compensation, 4% more than in 2012. Three major factors largely account for the cruise industry’s strong year-on-year growth: an increase in European sourcedpassengers; a surge in the number of cruise passengers embarking from European ports; and European shipyards’ continued dominance of the global cruise ship-building business. According to CLIA Europe’s 2014 Economic Contribution Report, an estimated 6.4 million European residents booked a cruise
holiday in 2013, representing a 3.6% increase over 2012 and accounting for 30% of all cruise passengers worldwide. Europe is also a major destination for cruise passengers and ships from around the world, attracting substantial tourism investment and spending. Thus the number of passengers embarking on their cruises from European ports reached 6 million in 2013, i.e. a 5.2% increase over 2012. Around 5 million of these were European nationals, with the remaining 1 million coming from third countries. European shipyards, which build most of the world’s state-ofthe-art cruise liners, enjoyed a 4.7% increase in their revenue. In 2013, cruise lines spent 4.03 billion euros on new builds and refurbishments in Europe, the second annual increase following a period of retrenchment. Currently, including deliveries scheduled for the first half of 2014, European shipyards are under contract to build 24 cruise ships with a combined value of 12.1 billion euros through to 2017.
Pierfrancesco Vago, CLIA Europe’s Chairman, said: “The positive results achieved this year reaffirm Europe’s position as a dynamic hub at the core of the global cruise industry, being the second most important market worldwide. The cruise industry keeps generating great economic benefits for Europeduring this crucial period of recovery, producing much-needed employment for European citizens as well asnew business for its industries and revenue for its states.” Robert Ashdown, CLIA Europe’s Secretary General, said: “Despite the difficult economic circumstances of 2013, over 6 million Europeans enjoyed cruising last year, more than double the number of a decade ago. Cruising also helpsincrease the number of tourists visiting Europe, with one million third-country nationals embarking on a cruise from a European port in 2013, as well as continuing to ensure Europe remains the global leader for cruise ship-building, with 24 new cruise ships scheduled for delivery by 2017.Beyond these hard economic facts, it is important to remember that cruising remains one of the safest, most affordable and memorable vacation experiences available today.” Greece has maintained its ranking as the third most popular destination in Europe, with 4.6 million passenger visits in 2013. Greek ports, including Santorini, Corfu, and Mykonos, are among the most popular ports of call in Europe, and Piraeus ranked fifth among all European home ports, with a throughput of 1.3 million passengers, up almost 1% on 2012. With its hundreds of thousands of tourists per year, the cruise industry makes a significant contribution to the Greek economy. In 2013 the direct economic contribution in Greece was 574 million euros, the seventh highest in Europe, and the cruise industry generated over 11,000 jobs. This was despite difficulties facing the Greek economy, which contracted by 3.9% in 2013, following several years of crisis.
Kyriakos Anastassiadis, CEO of LOUIS Cruises and Member of CLIA Europe’s Executive Committee, said: “With its incredible cultural heritage and natural beauty, Greece remains a key market for the European cruise industry. Thanks to the first signs of economic recovery in Greece and a more positive economic outlook, we are now cautiously optimistic for the future of the Greek cruise industry, which has a huge potential for growth. “We are committed to tap further into the Greek market’s potential and we will work with local, national and European authorities to overcome the hurdles that are still hampering cruise invest-ment and operations in the country, from port fees to poor infrastructure development. Together we can boost the cruise industry in Greece and make further significant contributions to growth and jobs.” Key 2013 figures released by CLIA Europe: 43 cruise lines domiciled in Europe, operating 125 cruise ships with a capacity of around 145,000 lower berths. A further 73 vessels with a capacity of around 104,000 lower berths deployed in Europe by 24 non-European lines. 39.4 billion euros in total output. 16.2 billion euros in direct spending by cruise lines and their passengers and crew. 339,417 jobs. 10.5 billion euros in employee compensation. 574 million euros indirect economic contribution in Greece (seventh highest in Europe). Piraeus is fifth most popular home port in Europe (fourth in the Med) - with a throughput of 1.3 million passengers, up almost 1% on 2012. Greek ports are among the most popular ports of call in Europe with Santorini, Corfu and Mykonos taking 3 of the top 11 most popular ‘port of call’ ports in Europe. The cruise industry generated over 11,000 jobs in Greece in 2013.

İzmir’in hedefi 1 milyon kruvaziyer turisti
Bu yıl sonuna dek İzmir Alsancak Limanı’na 500 milyon turist bekleniyor. Kruvaziyer turizminin parlayan yıldızı, turist sayısında İstanbul, Kuşadası ve Antalya limanlarını geride bırakan İzmir Alsancak Limanı’na yılın ilk beş ayında ABD’li ve Avrupalı yolcu taşıyan 43 gemi sefer düzenledi. İl Kültür ve Turizm Müdürü Abdülaziz Ediz, kruvaziyer turizminde dünyada daralma olduğunu ancak Türkiye’deki destinasyonların hala cazibesini koruduğunu, İzmir’in de Türk limanları arasında yükseldiğini belirtti.

örenleri İzmir’i ilk sıraya taşıyor.

Rixos The Palm Dubai, 233 oda ve 28 rezidanstan oluşuyor.
hedefliyor.

Paha biçilemez mozaikler Bowling Green State Universitesi, Wolfe Center Binası, Eva Marie Saint tiyatrosunun lobisinde dekorasyon amaçlı kullanılmaktadır.
