ROUEN CITY TOUR
Join us on a tour of the birthplace of Gustave Flaubert. Numerous Gothic buildings give the impression of being in an open-air museum. The Norman capital lives from contrasts: old half-timbered houses and churches in the centre and on the banks of the Seine high harbour cranes next to banal post-war buildings. Victor Hugo once called Rouen the city of a hundred steeples. Countless buildings were destroyed by bombing during World War II, especially in the area between the cathedral and the Seine. Nevertheless, about 2000 halftimbered houses are still preserved today. You will be amazed by the charm of this city.
EXCURSION HONFLEUR
At the mouth of the Seine to the English Channel lies the picturesque Honfleur, which looks back on a long past and at the same time presents itself as a future-oriented port city. Visiting Honfleur means immersing yourself in history while finding yourself in an extraordinary setting. The historic harbour basin, the picturesque alleys and traditional half-timbered houses make this small seafaring and artistic town one of the most charming coastal towns in Normandy. In the heart of the old seamen’s quarter is a unique building that you must see: the church of Sainte-Catherine (15th-16th century) is the largest wooden church in France with a separate bell tower.
EXCURSION TO THE ROAD OF THE MONASTERIES
The French writer Victor Hugo already called the abbey of Jumièges “the most beautiful ruin in France”. The imposing ruins still captivate visitors today and are a testimony to Romanesque architecture. The former Dominican abbey of St. Martin de Boscherville dates from the 12th century. Its late Romanesque church impresses with its simple architecture, while the adjacent chapter house is lavishly decorated with sculptures.
PARIS CITY WALKING TOUR
The French capital on the Seine is home to countless ecclesiastical and secular buildings, streets, squares, museums and parks worth seeing, and day after day attracts tourists from all over the world. The promenade along the Seine in Paris was added to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1991. Paris captivates not only by the cultural assets selected by UNESCO. During a city tour through the French metropolis with flair, you will see the most important sights, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Triumphal Floor, Notre Dame or even the ChampsÉlysées. During a short walk through the Parc du Luxembourg, you will enjoy the tranquillity in the hectic metropolis and let the many impressions of this unforgettable visit to the city of love take effect on you.
