innovation, progressive education and open collaboration.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Our environmental commitment is continually evolving and expanding into additional areas of our operations, both shipboard and shoreside. Our industry is inextricably linked to the condition of our oceans and as such, continual improvement is one of our core responsibilities.

In line with this accountability comes our commitment to preventing accidents and incidents involving pollution, reducing the environmental impact of our operations, managing waste through methods that promote recycling and reusing materials and ensuring continual refinement of our ISO 14001 certification objectives and targets.

FOCUS AREAS

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECTIVES

• Reduce our CO2 Emissions Rate • Increase Our Sustainable Sourcing • Minimize Waste to Landfills • Invest in Emerging Technologies

ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICERS

Every ship in our fleet is required to sail with an Environmental Officer (EO) whose job includes the implementation, training, oversight and verification of shipboard environmental compliance, in addition to providing shoreside assistance for developing environmental policies and procedures.

WATER CONSERVATION & ONBOARD PRODUCTION

Through a combination of onboard initiatives and progressive technologies, our ships are consistently improving their water production rates while working to decrease consumption and environmental impact. • Our ships produce more than 80% of their water on board. • Across our fleet, water conservation efforts on board can result in up to approximately 30% less water consumption per person, per day compared to the U.S. national average. • Wastewater is treated on board prior to discharge, resulting in effluent that meets or exceeds international regulations and many municipal wastewater facility standards.

PARTNERSHIPS

Through our outreach initiatives and corporate partnerships, we remain committed to having a positive impact on our local communities, the communities we visit and on the local ecosystems through which we cruise. Just a few examples include: • JUST® Water – This exciting, ground-breaking partnership has eliminated all single-use plastic water bottles across Norwegian

Cruise Line’s fleet. • Ocean Conservancy – We build on our global sustainability programme by joining several of the world’s leading corporations and organizations in Ocean Conservancy’s Trash Free Seas Alliance® to support our shared vision of a world with waterways, beaches and oceans free of plastic waste. • Coral reef restoration – NCL has developed a unique partnership with

Nova Southeastern University (NSU) to restore the coral reef located in the waters surrounding our private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup

Cay.

FUEL & ENERGY EFFICIENCY

To mitigate actions that may negatively impact our climate and reduce our impact on the environment and the oceans, we have put in place several initiatives aimed at lowering energy consumption and therefore reducing our carbon footprint. • Exhaust Gas Cleaning System – 11 of our ships are equipped with this innovative technology that reduces the amount of sulfur oxide (SOx) by up to 99%. • Energy saving – More than 10% on propulsion power is saved due to propulsion hydro dynamic upgrades and low friction silicone paint being applied on the hull. • Cold-Ironing – 35% of our fleet is equipped with shore power technology to connect the ship to electrical power while in port where applicable infrastructure is in place. • We have joined an industry commitment to reduce the carbon emissions rate across the aggregate industry fleet by 40% by 2030.

WASTE MITIGATION & RECYCLING

Our company’s progressive waste mitigation programme lessens the environmental impact of our operations, reduces pollution, promotes diversion of material from landfills, conserves natural resources and saves energy through reusing and recycling. • As reported by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), cruise lines recycle 60% more waste per person than the average person on land each day. • Our state-of-the-art recycling facilities operate 24/7 on each ship and maximize efforts for efficient recycling ashore.
