The East Boston Maritime Museum,
located along the
underdeveloped harbor front was designed to become a destination and beacon for the
East Boston
skyline.
The
building consists of three buildings connected by a central atrium, representing the link between
Boston, Charlestown and East Boston through the Harbor. Each building houses specific exhibits relating to the three areas of Boston Harbor. The Boston exhibit houses maritime artifacts related to commerce, while the East Boston exhibit houses information regarding the construction of Logan Airport. The Charlestown exhibit displays information regarding ship construction as well as the opportunity for hands-on experience in constructing boats. The structure, materiality and experiential qualities of the Maritime Museum was developed through careful examination of ship construction.

The Arnold Arboretum Sports Complex was based strongly on the location of the site as well as the natural aspects of the surrounding landscape.
This design focuses on the
connection with nature through different types of natural materials, forms and proportions.
Wood
terraces which
support vines offer a pleasant entrance into the building. the use of water throughout the sports complex, in the form of swimming pools, a speed skating track and cascading waterfalls, provides a calming escape from busy city life.
The sports complex sits into the surrounding hill creating a natural entrance to the second floor. The Arnold Arboretum Sports Complex provides a unique and relaxing way to attend sporting events as well as a retreat from the urban landscape.

This
three week exercise was designed to help better
understand the persistent power and beauty of water
Boston harbor. This intervention was located along a portion of East Boston, which consisted of numerous deteriorated piers. The intervention was designed to have a similar aesthetic to the surrounding context. The design consisted of a series of wooden piers, each supporting a metal grate. Each metal grates is offset from each other, along
creating an undulating plane that reaches out towards the
Boston skyline. After studying the tidal changes of Boston Harbor, emerged a dynamic relationship between the water’s edge and the undulating steel grates. As the tides rose and fell, portions of the structure either became exposed or submerged, creating an ever changing experience.

The Roxbury Charter Preparatory School was designed to provide more space for the growing population of the existing school. The school implemented a very strict behavioral policy for all of its students, which was important in the design of the new school.
The school is divided into two distinct zones to accommodate the schools administration needs. One zone consisted of classrooms, teacher’s offices and administration, providing a collaborative approach to learning. The other zone housed extracurricular program, such as, art, music, dance, library, and common space, allowing the students to express their own creativity and personality.
As many of the students attending Roxbury Charter Prep were behind in their education, it was important to create an architecture that facilitated learning.
