Well, what is travelling without tasting the local cuisine? We present you with ten local must-eats as you travel. *Source taken from CNNGo’s World's 50 most delicious foods
1 Gelato, Italy Thanks to "Eat, Pray, Love," the best dessert in Italy is now more popular than ever. True gelato makers use only fresh ingredients and no artificial flavours or colours, and allow you to mix and match as many different flavours as you want. With a higher density and less fat than ice cream, gelato often tastes richer but healthier -- perfect for your own "no-carbleft-behind" experiment.

2 Moo nam tok, Thailand Grilled pork combined with lemon juice, green onions, chili, mint sprigs, fish sauce and toasted rice. Legend has it the blood from the meat along with the dressing inspired some happy carnivore to name this brilliant dish “waterfall (nam tok moo) meat.”
Fajitas, Mexico This assembly kit of a dining experience is a thrill to DIY enthusiasts everywhere. Step 1: Behold the meat sizzling on a fiery griddle. Step 2: Along with the meat, throw side servings of capsicum, onion, guacamole, sour cream and salsa into a warm, flour tortilla. Step 3: Promise all within hearing range that you’ll have “just one more.” Step 4: Repeat.
Goi cuon, Vietnam This snack made from pork, shrimp, herbs, rice vermicelli and other ingredients wrapped in rice paper is served at room temperature. It’s “meat light,” with the flavors of refreshing herbs erupting in your mouth. Dipped in a slightly sweet sauce laced with ground peanuts, it’s wholesome, easy and the very definition of “moreish.”

5
Falafel, Israel Widely considered to be the unofficial national dish of Israel, falafel is a deep-fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas and/or fava beans and is usually served in a pita and topped with salads, pickled vegetables, hot sauce, and drizzled with tahini-based sauces.

6
Kebab, Iran For keeping starvation at bay for the entire student population of the United Kingdom, the doner kebab should clearly be honored. But they are hardly the delicious prototype worthy of representing a region. For that, summon the shish kebab. Pick your meat, shove a stick through it, grill. Then wonder why you don’t eat like this every day.
7
Seafood paella, Spain The sea is lapping just by your feet, a warm breeze whips the tablecloth around your legs and a steamy pan of paella sits in front of you. Shrimp, lobster, mussels and cuttlefish combine with white rice and various herbs, oil and salt in this Valencian dish to send you immediately into holiday mode. Though if you have it in Spain, you’re probably there already.
9
Stinky Tofu, Southeast Asia Nothing really prepares you for the stench of one of the strangest dishes on earth. Like durian, smelly tofu is one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic foods. The odour of fermenting tofu is so overpowering many aren’t able to shake off the memory for months. So is the legendarily divine taste really worth the effort? Sure it is.
8 Poutine, Canada French fries smothered in cheese curds and brown gravy. Sounds kind of disgusting, looks even worse, but engulfs the mouth in a saucy, cheesy, fried-potato mix that’ll have you fighting over the last dollop. Our Canadian friends insist it’s best enjoyed at 3 a.m. after “several” beers.
10
Masala Dosa, India A crispy, rice-batter crepe encases a spicy mix of mashed potato, which is then dipped in coconut chutney, pickles, tomato-and-lentil-based sauces and other condiments

22
Expectation Setting
1. Job Description •
Detailed description At times, the job description on aiesec.net may be too general. Hence, it will be good to clarify the specific tasks that you will be carrying out in detail. This is to ensure that you fully understand your job roles and know what to expect from it.
•
Name of the organization and Address of working place Check with the TN manager for the name of the organisation that you will be working with. To ensure that the organization exists, ask for the address of the organization. Additionally, you can do an online search to learn out more about that organization.
•
Schedule of the project Ask the TN manager the schedule of the project. This is because several projects will require you to attend additional conferences or events besides the internship.
•
Number of EPs joining the project If you are a person that needs to live and work with other people, you can ask the TN manager how many EPs are joining the project with you, or you can ask if the internship is one that requires teamwork or individual work.
24
Expectation Setting
2.
TN Contact Number Phone number
•
When you go to the foreign country, the only person that you will know could be the TN manager. It is very important to get the phone number of your TN manager to have at least someone to contact from the LC. Other forms of contact
•
You can also get a second email address (besides the one that you use to communicate with your TN manager) or add them via Facebook as they may use it frequently. All contacts should be obtained before your departure.
3. •
Airport Pick-up Confirm, confirm, confirm Request the hosting LC to arrange for a pick-up at the airport as it will be easier for you to navigate to your destination. If airport pick up is not provided, make sure you know the exact address of your accommodation.
25
Expectation Setting
4.
Accommodation Ask if the accommodation is provided. If it is provided, check if it is subsidized or free.
•
When accommodation is provided
Ask for address of the accommodation. After getting it, do an online search to check the existence of this address and verify it with what the manager described to you. At times, an accommodation may not have been sourced out at the point where you have to make the decision if you want to embark on that project. You will then need to judge the reliability of the manager and the project to see if proper accommodation will be provided. Ask for photos of the accommodation if possible to prepare yourself from disappointments. Issue of washing clothes - ask if they provide washing machine. Don’t feel this point is ridiculous, as some countries may not provide washing machines in their accommodation. •
When accommodation is NOT provided Ask the manager how to find accommodation. It is preferable to know the accommodation before you sign your Acceptance Note (AN). In the case that you really like the project and don’t have any concerns about the accommodation, at least confirm it before you embark on your trip.
26
Expectation Setting
5. •
Food and Water Water Ask if drinking water can be easily obtained. This is especially so for countries that have scarce water resources.
•
Meals You may ask the TN manager if meals are provided in the project. At times, they may provide one to three meals a day. This is to help you gauge the amount of cash that you would have to bring on the trip. You may also want to bring along a lunch box just in case.
6. •
Internet and Phone Internet Confirm if internet is provided and if you need to pay to use it.
•
Phone If you wish to buy a local SIM or calling card, ask how you can buy it and how much usually the value is. Alternatively, you can request for local telecom roaming services as service providers do offer monthly subscription for global roaming.
27
Expectation Setting
7.
Culture and previous EP’s contact Once you have confirmed your GCDP, it is important that you understand the country’s culture and have some background knowledge to prevent culture shocks.
•
Internet is your best friend Search online for information of the place that you are going.
•
Approach senior members Approach senior members who have been to that country or participated in the project hosted by the same LC to share with you their experience. You will be able to get more personal information from them that will prove useful to you. Ask them as much as you can.
•
Get previous EP contact from TN manager If the project is running for the second time or more, ask your TN manager if it is possible to provide you contacts of previous EPs. You will be able to obtain more information from them.
