Session: ‘Self-Awareness’

Session Aim: All learners will complete an IT based personality test.

Learning outcomes: LO 1: All learners will complete the self-awareness personality test LO 2: All learners will know at least 5 interview questions LO 3: Some learners will be able to identify 3 strengths and 1 weakness (Stretch) (Challenge) LO 4: Some learners will be able to describe their 3 strengths with an interview question posed by their peer or PSC. Lesson plan checker: Your plan should show that you have included: Differentiation: Planning for individual needs √ Stretch √ Assessment for Learning (including directed & open questioning) √

Challenge √ Equality & Inclusion √

How will students develop their English & maths skills taking into account their current FS levels?

All learners will be working in groups will be building on their knowledge from FS English of speaking and listening. They will discuss the different views on interview questions, personal strengths and weaknesses.

How are Learning Outcomes differentiated with activities for all, activities to stretch knowledge for most and challenge for the most able?

All learners will complete all the activities but some learners will be stretched to provide their feedback to the group on their 3 strengths. More able leaners will be asked a question by their peer to enable them to discuss their 3 strengths in a simulated interview question. In some cases the PSC may need to role play.

How are the activities varied to meet the needs of a range of learning styles?

The learning is consolidated through a range of activities to allow visual learners and kinaesthetic learners complete the personality test using the eCubed software. Auditory and Read/Write learning needs will be met through the PowerPoint and discussion with the PSC.

How are groups managed so that students have varied groups to support their learning and share the wider experience in the classroom?

The pairs will appear to be selected at random, as this is tutorial and working with a range of learners will support the PSD. Should pairs not have a more able pair then the PSC will support them to complete the interview question role play.

How have opportunities for peer learning and evaluation been included? Peer learning is encouraged throughout the session through paired work and learner feedback. Peer evaluation will be supported by the PSC during the challenge activity. All learners will self-evaluate for homework and will peer evaluate in future sessions when appropriate. The short self-evaluation will be review at a later date in a discussion with peers regarding the personality report.

Starter/Energiser Activity All learners will know at least 5 common questions that they could be asked at interview.

Important: If the question of strength and areas for improvement is not raised PSC to give example.

Starter/Energiser Activity (VARK) Learners will work in random pairs to discuss 4 questions that they think would be asked at an interview. Each learner within the pairs will feedback one interview question.

Learning check: LO2 Each learner will feedback ‘at least’ one question identified by the group.

Connect All learners will start to develop skills in self-awareness and some learners will realise the difficulty of selfawareness.

PSC to ask who found completing the self-evaluation sheet difficult/easy Important:

Learners will write their individual

Important: (To ensure that all learners feel comfortable PSC to share 1 interview question that they have been asked in the past).

(Challenge): LO4 To challenge the ‘most able’ learners the PSC should issue the challenge interview question to allow learners to ask the question and practice formulating their 3 strengths into an answer at interview. PSC may need to role play question first with a ‘more able’ student and ask them to ask the question to their peer secondary. Encourage them to feedback to group.

Share Activity All Learners will understand the importance of self-awareness within employability and interviews. PSCs will share the benefits of selfawareness, as successful selfevaluation is a difficult skill that requires support. PSC to link this skill to the Self-Awareness Activity.

Discrete questioning and observation.

Apply Activity All learners will complete selfawareness within eCubed.

Apply Activity (VRK) Learners to sign up to SA system. PSC to troubleshoot issues and the learners understanding of the questions. Learners to work through the Self Awareness footprint and print

Full Circle All learners will have an understanding the report and what quadrant am I?

Share the next session aims: Students to read and digest report, ask PSC to explain if they are unsure of any words or key terms.

PSC to present the four quadrants and give all learners a supportive learner-friendly hand-out to take away. 5min

Plenary Give all learners the opportunity to write what they feel they have learnt from the session.

All learners to write one thing that they have learnt from the session & name 3 elements of E3.
