ATRIUM VENTILATION Atrium ventilation is a method that is similar to stack ventilation. It works on a method that involves the fresh air to incorporated at higher levels as well. This displaces the warm air higher to a point where openings on cooling allow an exit. This method is normally used in spaces that have high density of users

REEXPLORING SCHOOL CAMPUS AIM- To design a Higher Secondary School (8th to 12th Standard) with required infrstructure along with necessary amenities/ services and dormitories. • To study about the site context set in urban area in order to improve the overall spatial quality with effective design strategies w.r.t. light, ventilation, building materials, acoustics, wall treatments, façade detailing etc. to enable the students to focus on better learning environments for thoughtfulness.
Site area: 8000 sq.m. Project type: Educational FSI: 0.5 Location: CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra
CONCEPT • • • • • •
Create a sense of curiosity A form of interlocked volumes Providing obstructed view Horizontal spread Incorporating nature
Orientation of building according to sunlight and windßow
Second Floor Zoning large areas according to view and sunlight
First floor
Breaking the form to allow wind ßow inside the structure
Ground floor Courtyard promoting a sense of living space While maintaining a relative formal simplicity, interlocking volumes have a potential advantage by fragmenting and combining elements that are made from different materials.
Courtyard Planning:• Passive cooling systems are least expensive means of cooling • It rely on natural heat sinks to remove heat from the building. They derive cooling directly from evaporation, convection and radiation without using any intermediate electrical devices • All passive cooling strategies rely on daily changes in temperature and relative humidity • The applicability of each system depends on the climatic conditions
•
•
Exterior shading devices are more effective than interior devices in reducing solar heat gain because they block radiation before it passes through a window. Light colored shades are preferable to dark ones because they reßect more, and absorb less, radiation.
Courtyard Effect:• Due to incident solar radiation in courtyard, the air gets and cooler • Cool air from the ground level ßows through louvered openings of the rooms surrounding a courtyard, thus providing air ßows • At night the warm roof surfaces get cooled by convection and radiation

Aluminium Cladding:• Aluminium and aluminium cladding offers great beneÞts compared to other metals. When designing the facade of your building it’s important to take these beneÞts into consideration. • Aluminium is a very light weight metal • Aluminium is very resistant to corrosion • Aluminium is ßexible
