We live for short lift lines, endless runs, and a deep-rooted passion for the sport. But mostly for powder days, because powder days are awesome. Make no mistake, we are here to get the job done, but at the end of the day, this isn’t a job, this is skiing—the best damn thing on Earth. It feels like most of the ski world has forgotten that, tightening their belts and getting their undies in a bunch. At K2, we don’t wear underwear. We wear ski pants. And we are all about undoing the top two buttons, turning the volume up to 12, and letting it ride. Now that’s our idea of serious fun. That’s K2.

WE’LL TRY ANYTHING ONCE Truth be told, no matter how upside down and backwards some ideas may seem, they all get filtered through our E3 philosophy. Energy Efficient Engineering (E3) is the design approach behind every new product at K2. Simply put, it helps us create new products that require less energy to control, to make skiing more fun. Sure, we’ve had a few experiments go wrong, but this Philosophy helps us keep only the kickass, pow bashing, groomer slaying, daffy-spreading, perfect fitting, seamlessly integrating goodness that you’ll find in every K2 product. We’ve thought long and hard about how to make it better, so you can spend less time thinking about gear and more time skiing.

DOUG COOMBS BOOK EXCERPT FROM “TRACKING THE WILD COOMBA” BY ROBERT COCUZZO PUBLISHED BY MOUNTAINEERS PUBLISHERS “ When Doug Coombs broke his neck in a skiing accident at the age of sixteen, doctors told him that another bad fall might not just paralyze him—it could kill him. He had been on skis since the time he could walk, making his first turns down an icy driveway in his hometown of Bedford, Massachusetts. By high school, he was a dominant downhill racer, earning the title of best all-around skier across ten towns. But after a crash left him with four fused vertebrae, Coombs’s skiing career was in jeopardy. When he left home to attend college out West in the fall of 1979, no one imagined that Doug Coombs would become arguably the greatest big mountain skier to ever live. Over the course of his unlikely career, Doug Coombs won extreme skiing contests, redefined the ski industry, and pioneered hundreds of first descents in the steepest mountains around the world. Yet perhaps his greatest legacy was as a guide, leading people to places they couldn’t reach on their own. Coombs’s masterful skiing and infectious love for being in the mountains radiated around him and inspired a generation of skiers who continue his legacy now even after his untimely death.” Watch for the entire book available in Fall 2016.
