DUAL LOCKING MECHANISMS Once in position the lens carrier provides a patent-pending dual locking mechanical engagement to secure the lens. With the I/O MAG’s two locking mechanisms, the lens stays locked tight for whatever the hill throws at you. A simple push of one lever at either side of the lens releases the lens for easy swapping as the light and conditions change.

Our Fog-X lens treatment employs a hydrophilic, micro-etched surface to absorb moisture and disperse it over a wide surface area to prevent fogging. Because it is physically carved into the lens, it can’t be wiped away like other anti-fog coatings.

Spherical lenses are built on a base curve in both the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) axis. QUANTUM HELMET

FINALLY, PROTECTION AS PROGRESSIVE AS YOU ARE. Koroyd® provides superior impact absorption, design flexibility, and ventilation when compared to materials traditionally used in helmet construction. By utilizing crumple-zone cylinders that crush uniformly on impact, Koroyd® manages energy more efficiently with less volume than any other protection material on the market. Unlike traditional protection materials, Koroyd® cylinders absorb and convert more kinetic energy, while increasing air flow and reducing overall weight. Not all helmets are created equal.

Developed as an energy absorber in the aerospace industry, cylindrical structures were found to be one of nature’s strongest forms; a form that could offer the greatest impact absorbtion for a given length. Koroyd® utilizes cylinders to create a structure that behaves differently than traditional protection materials. Traditional materials act like a spring which stores energy and then releases it, Koroyd® is a true energy absorber which converts the kinetic energy by crumpling. This translates into better absorption of impact energy. MIPS® technology

Ultimate Integration

At Smith, we design helmets and goggles to work together as a fully integrated system. For the helmet line, the most important factor in integration is the AirEvac™ ventilation system. This is the bridge that allows goggles and helmets to function as one system, venting warm, moist air away from the goggles, through the helmet climate control system and ultimately away from the head.

MULTI-DIRECTIONAL IMPACT PROTECTION SYSTEM In a helmet with MIPS® Brain Protection System (BPS) the shell and the liner are separated by a Low Friction Layer. When a helmet with MIPS® Brain Protection System is subjected to an angled impact, the low friction layer allows the helmet to slide relative to the head. The MIPS® BPS is designed to add protection in helmets against the rotational motion. The rotational motion is a combination of rotational energy (angular velocity) and rotational forces (from angular acceleration) that both affects the brain and increases the risk for minor and severe brain injuries. MIPS® BPS has been scientifically proven to reduce rotational motion when implemented in a helmet by absorbing and redirecting rotational energies and forces transferred to the brain.

THE GREAT MISCONCEPTION Accident statistics show that many injuries occur due to angled impact to the head. However, in standard helmet tests the helmet is dropped vertically onto a flat surface. The results are helpful for measuring precise vertical impacts, but inferior for measuring the more realistic scenario of an angled impact. MIPS® has been developed for reality and increases protection against angled impacts.

When you fall to the ground at an angle rotational forces are generated. A helmet integrating MIPS® technology creates a sliding layer between the outer shell and the head. This allows the helmet's outer shell to slide relative to the head when hitting the ground, so the rotational force is decreased, reducing the potential to damage your brain.

Goggles fog when standard helmets trap warm, moist air in the goggle chamber. Smith’s AirEvac™ ventilation systems generate maximum airflow that pulls warm, fog-causing air out of the goggle. The warm air is allowed to exhaust out of the top of the goggle and begin its path through the helmet’s AirEvac™ system.

The warm air that originally built up in the goggle has been forced out via the AirEvac™ ventilation system, has traveled through the AirEvac™ EPS vent channels, and is now being exhausted at the furthest distance possible from the goggle. HYBRID SHELL CONSTRUCTION: Lightweight and low profile

Smith’s hybrid shell construction combines separate lightweight and durable shells to create an entirely new helmet category. By fusing our tough bombshell ABS construction with flyweight inmold technology, our hybrid shell construction optimizes the favorable traits of each material in this revolutionary process. The result is a modern design that provides a lightweight, low profile, perfectly fitting helmet. hybrid shell construction also creates a clean, smooth top surface by enabling the low profile Regulator to function with reduced mass and volume.
