For the past five yea rs Betlxlny -Peniel College has had a phe no menal grow th in all departments. The enrollment has passed th ree hundred and twen t y-five. the second largest en roilment in any of our schools. Th e College of Liberal A rts has grow n from an enrollment of sixteen students five yea rs ago to nea rl y o ne hundred at the present ti me: the High School Depa rtment has more tha n treb led in this time. now numbering about two hundred students ; the Department of Fine Arts has not lagged in t he least ~nd best of all the School o f Theol ogy has more than doubled in enrollment.

High School Department a Faculty of twelve members. most of whom either have their Master's Deg rees o r are working toward them . The Soecial DeFartments are filled by qualified and compete nt teachers. and the Dean of the Theological Depa rtmen t is one of the great thin kers and theologians of ou r church. In recog niti on of the character of the wo rk done. the high school. normal training and two yea rs of college have bee n accredited by the State Department of Education. the University of Okl.ahoma . and by the severa l Tucher's Colleges o f the Sute. Bethany-Penitl College is ~ member of the J\meri :an Association of Junior Colleges.

The quality and characte r of the st udents of B. P . C. is worthy of men t ion. H er graduates and students are occupyi ng important places in the chu rch lang ing from the steady lay -member in the pew to the Editor of the Her.lld of Iiol iness and the genenal superin tendency of ou r great C hurch. Our st udents for the most part are prepa ring for some SOrt of christian work. and most of them leave with the ideals of the I nst itution and o f the Chu rch woven into l'very fibe r of their being . They ate helping to build the Chu rch of thl' N.lza rene.

One o f the school's gre.lt hand icaps has been the lack of separate bui l d i n&~ for the high school and college and for an auditorium la rge enough to acom modate the crowds at our special meetings . At this time .1 large commodious bu ild in g is being erected for [his purpose. The neW building will house the college of libe ral arts. it will contain a large basement auditorium fo r the dai ly chapel ~ rvi cu. and a large auditorium for our specia l program s and church S{'rviccs.

Since the school is not burdened wi th;]; hea vy indebtedness and the supporting (erritory is solidly behind thÂŁ' institution : there is .lssured a 'g reat futu re for Bethany-Peniel College.

Cfhe Sophomore Class Bethany-Pcni"l College boasts this yen of the largest ar.d best graduating class of Junior College in her history. It is not necessary to go into further discussion of this statement for it is a. point on which we Brc all agrcl.'d.

There are several unique futures abour the class of '25 that did not distinguish former graduating ci:lsscs. In the first pl3ce , cach member is a product c.f this college, for carh one has taken all of h is college work in our own instilu · t ion . OUf schools arc getting to the pl-a::c in the t'duc':lIio nai world wht>rc their rollege curriculum is full enough .and rccogni'lcd sufficiently by Stale institutions to justify the Nazarene yourg man and woman to take at least half of his fO llese course within their walls and have no fCM of losing any work o r heine ill the lowest division of classes when he goes to highl'r schoo!s of learnin~ .

Our own Alma Mater affords its constituency this priviligc.

Oue class is prominent in all school activities. It has representati ves in practically every organi zation of (hz student-body, includi:1g the "A rrow" staff, ··Jourr al " staff and Student Council. It furnishes a player fo r both the college girls' ard colll'gc boys· baskl't ball teams and it has a participant in the annual track m~c(. So, in spite of (he fact tillt this class is unusually s(udiou~ they have time to spend in helping fo rward the work of the sc hool secondary to the regular literary course.

Almost without a single exception. the class is enrolled in the Fine Art .~ Uepartment of the school. A number are taking piano, and they expect to give to t he Piano Department twO diploma graduates Others are st udyin ~ fxprcssio:1. Violin and Voice. This would indic . lte that the Sophomore class believes the Fine Arts are the Divine Arts and that time is weli spent in the acquisition of these accompl ishments.

Ar:otber phenomenal characteristic of this class is the fact, that each one is lookirg toward the teaching profrssion as a permanent life work . Space would forbid our st ressing at length the value of teachers trained in a Ch ristian School. It is possible for us to adopt a policy of isolation that would tend to binder rather than promote the cause of Christ. The public schools are one of the greatest channels for being a real blessing to be round anYWhere, and they are ope n to our prospective tl'<lche rs. I n order to cxp~ct the best from the rising generation, the best must be given it in the way o( instruction and we believe that the graduates of Be[hany-P{'niel College have the best to offer, both as to intellectual t raining and to religious. The (ormer graduates o f ou r school have had no trouble in finding employment and givinSt satisfactory ser\·ice, and we are sure the class of ·25 will raise this standard if it is altered al all .

On the whole, our second year of college has been a pleasant .lnd profitable o ne.
