Soave Enterprises Delivers Innovative Salvage Experience Soave Enterprises’ affiliate company, Parts Galore, is a relatively new venture of Anthony Soave as part of the Soave Enterprises’ Metals Recycling Group. The automotive scrap yard is changing the way consumers view junkyards. The huge 18-acre complex, located on Eight Mile Road, west of Hoover in Detroit, offers do-it-yourself auto parts salvage. Lined up in neat rows and organized by both vehicle type and manufacturer, some 2,000 cars and trucks are available at any given time for customers to look through and remove any parts they need. “It’s a self-service yard with an enormous, ever-changing inventory of vehicles. That’s a niche nobody else really has in this area,” says Parts Galore Manager Bill Wild. “It’s part of a new nationwide trend that’s cleaning up junkyards and making them easier and cheaper for regular folks to get into and, once inside, to find and retrieve parts on their own.” At each of the three Parts Galore locations, scrap yards are organized by manufacturer or type. Signs along the way mark specific sections. Maps are provided throughout the yard to direct customers. That way, customers can find the vehicle makes and models they need to easily recover the parts they came for. The concept is simple, allows for lower operation expenses, and enables Soave Enterprises to pass the savings on to the customer. Parts Galore is a collaborative effort between the Parts Galore staff on site and workers at Soave Enterprises affiliate, Ferrous Processing & Trading (FPT). Before vehicles are placed into inventory, the Parts Galore staff removes the gas tanks and all remaining fluids (gasoline, engine oil, transmission fluid, etc.), which are then recycled. After customers have stripped a row of vehicles of parts, the entire row is removed and replaced with a new batch. The vehicles that have been removed are shipped to one of three Ferrous Processing & Trading automobile shredders in the Detroit area, where they are fragmentized and prepared for remelting by steel mills, foundries and smelters. Parts Galore processes about 1,000 vehicles per month. After they make their way through Parts Galore, the automobiles are then taken to a FPT plant, representing the latest development in recycling technology and marketing of obsolete cars and trucks. Ferrous Processing & Trading is one of North America’s premier processors, sellers, and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds. They are supported by the unique skills and experience of the management, commercial, and operations teams. Their ownership assures both financial strength and a deep commitment to the industry and their customers. FPT’s reputation is built on the core values of integrity, expertise, responsiveness, and creativity in the scrap metal recycling industry. Their partnership with Parts Galore represents their commitment to ongoing innovation and sustainability.
